Since S&W never shipped guns out in sequential order, it appears that;
Some Pre-39's (s/n 1001-2624) might have shipped at a late date and are stamped with a "Model-39" and
Some "Model-39's" (s/n higher than 2624) may have shipped early and are not stamped Model 39.
If anyone has a Pre 39 between S/N 1001 & 2624 that is roll marked with "Model-39" or a S/N higher than 2624 that has no "Model-39" roll mark can you please send me a picture or at least the information on the gun. I myself have S/N 2421 which should be a Pre-39 but is stamped Model 39. I'm trying to develop a Pre-39 inventory and this would be much appreciated.
