Do you know what I could sell my MP-15T upper for?

I am replacing this with a BCM/Daniel Defense upper which I have just ordered

So in a week or two I will be selling my MP-15T upper with the front folding troy sight. It has about 1500 rounds of PMC through it and is almost a year old.

What do you think I could get for it?

Thanks
David

OK this is where I need your guys advice...as to which would be more appealing to a potential buyer...

To sell my MP-15T upper as-is, in used but excellent condition, OR to replace the receiver and BCG with brand a new unused BCM receiver and BCG? THis of course means it is no longer a true S&W item.

SO the choice is between selling the used MP-15T upper or selling an upper that is essentially a new BCG upper with a used barrel and rail system? What you think will sell better?

Thanks for any help,

David

I think selling the upper would be easier because there is no FFL that you have to deal with. Now as to what to price it at can be very subjective. Maybe look at gun sites that sell comprable uppers and go from there. But good luck on that because now it is very much a buyers market and AR buyers have dropped off dramatically.

i'd think of it this way like i do with most things, don't invest money trying to make more money when reselling. In the car market i see people do it all the time, they put $5,000 in "upgrades" and then expect someone else should pay for it too. I'd say leave it as-is, try to sell it- then if you CANT then upgrade it. No sense in upgrading it right off the bat.

Well - lets look at what the parts would cost...

16" upper - right now you can get one that's considered better than the S&W for $385.00
If you are getting a new BCG with your new upper, and keeping the S&W BCG with the upper you are selling - $135.00
Troy Free Float Rail - $230.00
Troy Front BUIS - $100.00

So - ballpark to buy new - $850.00 with a Bravo Company upper & BCG.

Since the S&W isn't as highly regarded as BCM, maybe $750.00 new.

Now it's used - so there is always some concern on how it was treated - I'd say $500.00 - $600.00 would be in the right ballpark.

Go over to either...

And poke around and see what others are selling stuff for.

Good luck with the sale,

There are 5 right now on GB that are new and priced in the $500 range. You will need to be in the $400 range for a used upper to get any bites.

Can you give listing numbers? I see a bunch in the 5.45x39 (russian) chambering, not the 5.56 NATO round.

And the few that are 5.56, are the std. M4 style, not the "15T" with the Troy rails & sights.

I'm not saying they are not there - just that I can't find them.

Thanks,
Bob S.

Realisticly, your going to have to be sub $400. a used upper is worth about half of what you paid for it, if it's been shot. With the number of rounds you've put threw it, it will be considered by most as worn out or close to it. Grade it the same way you would a firearm, condition wise and go from there. Once you go below 80% it's not worth much.

Of course this is my opinion and my opinion only.

Yeah 1500 rounds is nowhere near worn out, sounds like someone is going to get a good deal.

I have a project M&P lower that is looking for an upper. I would be interested in hearing what you decide for the final price.
