Fortunately, my wife and I were out on a date together when that big meteorite landed on our house and destroyed it and every last one of the guns I had. So she and I both know I don't have any.

BEFORE that, though, she knew that I had some silver and black ones that all looked pretty much the same to her, and I knew she had seen each of them at one time or another, but other than that.....;)

Another reason I enjoyed owning and shooting all Third Gens....;)

Heck, I don't even know how many guns I have. My wife doesn't either, but she keeps telling that I already have enough. Go figure.

Id eventually like to get to the point that I dont know how many guns I have but unfortunately I can count them on one hand not using all my fingers. :(:( However, that changes in 2014. :-))

Yep! And, with the exception of the Garand, she shoots them as well as I do or better. :o

I often kid her about the way she wastes most the target by only shooting out the center part where I paste the bullseye sticker.

Now, let's talk about cleaning them . . . Nope! But, it's all good. ;)

sure my wife knows how many guns I have and where they are.....no big deal....

She has never asked for an exact number as that fluctuates. She does help me inventory them. I number them logically.
1. a gun. Dads Win Mod 70, SN. inherited, Leupold scope, SN.
2. A scope.
3. a gun.
4. Spotting scope.
5. Gun, gone.
6. Gun.
7. Kahles Binocs.
8. Gun case.
9. Gun scope.
10. Custom knife.
11. Gun.

I used to keep them in chronological order;
1. Win Mod 70, pre 64, 270 WCF, SN, inherited from Dad. Leupold.
2. Win Mod 70, pre 64, FWT, 270 WIN, SN.Leupold.

Too easy to count........

Yep. After about 7 or 8 she became "confused" But after the last one she asked me right out. "How the hell many guns DO you have?" I can't lie to my sweetie. She's a shooter too.

She was a little shocked at first but she got over it. I will occasionally show her some of y'alls pics and she feels a lot better about my 20 or so. The last pic I showed her was the pic of the guy's collection that has over 60 1911s not to mention what ever else he may have. She saw that and knelt at my feet with tears of relief running down her cheeks. :D I was quick to take advantage of THAT opportunity to make myself look GOOD! :)

Kinda knows but I keep it out of most discussions. I just hate when the gun shop calls and leaves a message regarding a transfer pickup, and she picks that up.

My wife has seen every firearm I've bought and I've seen every purse she has bought...however, we don't know or care how many of each we have.

Well...except for the Shield she has some how taken ownership of...lol.

There is no way she could know. Because I don't. I admit I quit counting at 225. She has heard that for years. How many are hers? That she knows...2; a Glock 9mm and a 391 Sporting 20 gauge. She has woke up in the night saying "I want my shotgun!" I wake up in the night saying "I want my wife", so she is happy being first place. Ivan

Sometime ago the wife I sat down, setup a spread sheet and inventoried the firearms. The sheet included: make, model, description, caliber, serial number, box or no box, matching holster and approximate current conservative value. It was time well spent.

I see too many wives and children liquidating off the old mans gun collection without a clue what they have and what they are selling.

Oh wait, I just brought home a 5 inch Smith & Wesson Model 46 .22 that she doesn't know about and needs to be added to the list.

I don't even know, how could she? I've always thought it best not to lie, so me not knowing is an advantage. She's usually not the one asking, but the answer is the same. I don't know. Its true, too. Nor do I care. All I know is that sometimes I see a new one that I need. Not really new, just new to me. I buy it and bring it home. You can add +1 to the old total if you like.

I do know specific guns.

I can count mine on my fingers. She has shot three or four, and encouraged me to buy the last three, but she could not tell you how many. Heck, I only know the number if I stop and think about it.

That is a GREAT idea and I have all mine documented in a similar fashion including date and place of purchase and pics of each plus a pic of each showing the serial number. If it was a gift I document the giver and the date I got it. ( Gotta love livin' in a world where people give you guns! :D )

My wife guessed a number that is about 60% of the total.....I told her the actual number...she doesn't really care...she says I've earned the privilege...did I tell you what a great gal she is??

I logged all of mine with pictures and purchase/acquisition information and cost, as well as approx current value....

I put mine on a spreadsheet, but may have acquired one or twos since she has looked it it. I keep the original on the laptop, send an e-mail to myself with an attachment and keep a hard copy in the safe. I usually am so proud of a new one that I show it to her but since the funding doesn't impact her she never asks about cost.

Happy New Year!!

Same as with my fly rods. When she asks why I need so many and after about 2 minutes into the explanation her eyes get glazed over and she says "I'm sorry I asked" ;)

I answered yes because she probably does know since some of them are hers... but she really doesn't care. She has her vices/hobbies just as I do. I have no idea how many quilts, crocheted blankets, Longaberger baskets, Swarovski crystal pieces....

wifes approval

I worked at a gun store in southern Republik of Kalifornia
called Armory of Orange. We had a sign that read

We called your wife and she said it was OK to buy a gun.

She does not have a clue exactly how many guns I have, hell she doesn't know how many I bought last week alone ;):D

She really doesn't care either...and she's certainly familiar with guns, she carried a few over a 20 year LE career ;):D

Loved the various answers but you should have stuck a "Maybe" in there. Answers would have been even more interesting. My wife knows I have a lot,but not an exact amount. Frank

She knows I have an assortment. Quantity is somewhere between 'a few' and 'not enough'. I suppose if she really cared, she could just open the cabinets and count them.

Yes, she knows because she was with me when I bought many of them. She has claimed most of the pretty ones as "hers" and she shoots them well. Great gal!
