There was some rather famous artist in, I think, the 18th century, who specialized in painting similar animal portraits, animals dressed up in human finery. I don't remember the name, but I have seen some.

This is my dog, the Archduke Pogi. He is more of a casual dog but occasionally he will don his full dress uniform.

Which app did you use to create that? I have dogs and ideas.

Just Alex,

Don't think that was it. Seems like it was rectangular with a female dog standing behind one of the players. But that was sixty something years ago and before way too much Jack Daniels. I do like that one. hardcase60

This is the one I have hanging in my bedroom. The wife wouldn't let me hang it in the living room. It is really nicely framed like an art masterpiece that it is.

I wish I still had the sofa sized print of the "Poker Game" that hung over the couch in our living room when I was a kid in the fifties and sixties. Yep, we had a place with lot's of class. All low but class. hardcase60

Believe it or not, Dogs Playing Poker has evolved into a genuine piece of folk art or Americana, whichever term you wish to use. Millions of prints of it have been sold all over the world. It's hung in bars and basements, framed and unframed. Taped and tacked to walls in dorm rooms and barracks all over the country. I've even seen a framed print of it hung in a hospital waiting room.

The image, itself, is very well done. It's also so tacky, incongruous, and easily recognized everywhere, that it has become more popular and well known that it's more well known that fine art by artists such as Van Gogh or Reubens.

Art critics turn their noses up at it, but ordinary people like me (us) can't help but smile when they look at it...which can't be said for many examples of so-called fine art.

The painting also figures somewhat prominently in the film The Accountant.

I think that's why I gravitate towards things like that. I think it's funny and it irritates the art snobs. To me, it is art.
