We have been "adopted" by a very lovable 35 lb. mutt who showed up on our property about 3 weeks ago. She had a collar, but no name or shot records on it. We didn't feed her for about 2 days, thinking she may have just wondered away from her home. She is about 6 mo. old, very friendly and energetic but she has exiled our three outside cats to the garage since her arrival. The cats bed down inside the garage at night but have always had the run of the property during the day...up until now. I have tried to acclimate her to them, but her greatest joy seem to be chasing them into the garage (where she can't get under the door), then returning to receive the 'praise' she seems to think she deserves for taking care of them. Our other 2 dogs get along perfectly with the cats. She seems to want to mind in other things, but when it comes to the cats, all bets are off.

We live on 160 acres with almost no neighbors and she has definitely decided that this is her new home.

Has anyone here ever used any of the vibrate/shock collars for training your dog? If so, which brands work well and which are not worth buying. I'm thinking this may be my only option.

She is a pup and doing what pups do-- More than likely never around cats. The cats will more than likely 'teach her' when the opportunity arises. :)
