So my Water Tech Blue Diamond pool robot finally gave up the ghost after 10 years of service to the point where it did not pay to repair anymore.
I did my research and bought a Maytronics Dolphin M-400 and it had its maiden voyage this evening. Within 1.5 hours the pool is now spotless and the best part is that there is no more bag underneath to clean. This new M-400 has two removable cartridges that are easily removed from the top pf the Robot and clean in a few seconds. Unless you have cleaned a Robot bag, you can't appreciate how easily these cartridges clean up.
This model not only has some sort of sonar or "smart" guidance system , but it also is able to be manually controlled by a free download onto your iphone. The cable from the computer control on the caddy to the robot itself is 60 feet and has an anti tangle 360º swivel connector. It seems to really climb the walls and stairs well and so far I am pretty impressed with it. Now all we need is some warm sunny weather and I can finally use the pool!
This unit is top rated and actually made in Israel, not China. The only draw back is that it is a new model and very pricey! I did get an instant $75 rebate but it still ran over $1300 with tax.
If it lasts the 10 years my old one did I suppose I can justify the cost - I just hope I do not have to replace as many parts as I did on the old one. When I get some more experience with it (end of the season) I'll probably rate it more thoroughly and post.
