Don't Drink and Gunbroker/update

I don't drink, but I threw out opening bids on 3 different Colt SAA first gens. a couple of weeks ago. Ouch! Never in a million years would I have thought I had a chance of winning all 3 under $2K each. Lesson learned. (But I would still do it again if I had it to do over!)

That seems like a good price on a fairly scarce K-frame. I had a 14-3 with the long barrel. For me it worked better with large grips. It helps keep the balance a little further back.

I have a pending auction like that...I'd had a beer or two and was maybe a bit impulsive. It's an upgrade to an existing gun, which I'd then sell, so at least the wife will be neutral if I don't spend $$$ right before the holidays...

I made the mistake of taking an Ambien one night and thought I'd go on Proxybid until it "kicked in". I bid $6000 (that I didn't have) on a RM. I had no memory of it the next day, until I got an email saying I had been outbid. It was a good deal at the time, but thank goodness someone outbid me by $250!

It was significantly rarer variation to one of my current S&Ws, but also sits at nearly double what I paid for the current gun. So, really, would be moving around the deck chairs when it is all said and done, value-wise.

I think you did well. That long sight radius should make for accurate target shooting out to 50 yards.

I realize a lot of folks believe 50 yards is a long shot with a handgun.

It isn't---only for some shooters. I also realize some folks believe shooting from a rest is cheating, but shooting 4" groups at 100 yards is child's play---and that with a 6" barrel----and whatever sight radius that amounts to.

Spend a little time with your guns, and their capabilities may well surprise you.

Update, so I picked up the gun today. It is in very good shape, but!!! someone at some time changed the Targets (noted on the end label) for Magnas. The must have lost the grip screw and glued the Magnas on. Hopefully I can get the grips off and the glue cleaned up without any finish damage.

Was the lack of screw noted?

Oh, terrific. That's a "bubba" trick I've not encountered. Brilliant!

Dental floss to get the stocks off, maybe?

Acetone might help with get the glue off the frame.

Well so far so good. Bubba used rubber cement and only on the right side. So it was easy to pull/rub the glue off. The gun cleaned up extremely well, only a very slight turn line and a very small faint scratch (3/8" ~). This gun has been shot very little. Internals were spic and span just needed a little oil. So far vary happy, to the range Thursday.
