Doral tires

I hang out in a couple car forums (Vettes) and a couple 4x4 truck forums and I never heard of them either.

I just did a Google search and two pages down after a lot of paid adds I found out a little about them.

I want only US made tires on vehicles I ride in or my loved ones ride in.. tires aren't a thing to save money on/cheap out on... Sheesh it's like cheapening out on natural gas/propane fittings/lines or electrical components for your home... golly why buy a commercial Square D.. the only time you need a box/panel when you can get a 60 amp third world made panel & breakers for your $200,000 home.., quit being so cheap & think safety & value.

Not trying to take this off topic but I also want the best tires I can get on my Vettes which can approach 200 miles a hour. (Z rated tires)

For many years the late model Vettes came with Goodyear run flats. (we call them Bad Years FWIW) Changing them out fast was a popular move by a lot of the Vette enthusiasts. Replacing those 4 tires and labor can easily exceed $2,000. The popular replacement tires were Michlines, Pirilli and Firestone/Bridgestone in that order!

Now there coming with Michelins from the factory which IMNSHO opinion are a lot better. (and not near as many people are changing them out)

My 2012 Toyota RAV4 came with factory Bridgestone Dueller tires and they were really worn looking at 30k miles and were a little noisy, and they are pretty expensive tires. I got a flat on the highway and ruined a tire and went to a small town Goodyear store and the only tire they had that fit was a Doral. I eventually replaced all four tires with Dorals and have been pretty happy with them. They last longer and are quieter even though they have a slightly more aggressive tread than Bridgestone Duellers, and they are a heck of a lot cheaper!

The kind of feedback I was looking for, thank you

I spent 42 years in commercial electrical construction as a contractor, electrical engineer and hold 5 master electrician's licenses, and FYI more than half of your Square D is outsourced by the French Company that owns them. These tires were recommended to me by a tire dealer that sells everything. Why?? Because they are replacing 6 YO Bridgestone 157.00 tires that dryrotted after 13000 miles due to age, and the replacement tires I put on are going to still drive 2000 miles a year. My tire dealer indicated I was wasting money to replace at an OEM level that is rotted away and looks new. Not knowing the tires I asked for personal experience. I thought that was the point of this forum. Thank you for your help.

I work part time at a Tuffy automotive shop. We sell Dorals(along with all the other brands) because of their affordability. Never heard of a problem.

When it comes to tires and brakes my personal opinion is it is NOT the place to cheap out! Those are the two most important safety items on an Automobile. Save money in other places - NOT on the only thing between YOU and the ROAD. I go on line, do the research and find the highest, best bang for the buck tires, sticking to Goodyear, Conti's, or similar. Just my opinion of course........

I finally got away from Goodyear tires on my Vette. They're very expensive and with the miles I drive I was tossing tires with less than 10,000 miles on them due to age. I have had good luck with Cooper Tires on other vehicles so that's what's on my Vette now. Well we'll see.
BTW: from what I know some of those oddball tires from Countries you don't think of about manufacturing tires are actually made in China.

At 2,000 miles a year and dry rot being the issue rather than actually wearing them out, I'd listen to the dealer too. I'm usually the "buy the best tire you can afford guy" because I drive 20,000 miles a year and am often hundreds of miles from home, but that isn't you.

My vehicle is used for work and I drive about 30-40 K miles a year and Dorals are the only tires that have been on my SUV since the factory Bridgestone tires wore out early. I have 129,000 miles on my vehicle that's only 3-1/2 years old and the Dorals are inexpensive and seem to work just fine, wet or dry, so I see no reason to change brands.

On my motorcycle sidecar the next set of tires will be cheap and Chinese.:eek::eek: There is no leaning into curves and other performance/handling issues in a sidecar like a regular bike, so a cheap imported hard rubber compound that's not going to wear out in 3-5000 miles is actually preferable. I wouldn't feel comfortable running those tires on a two wheeler in the rain, but for some applications sometimes the best solution is found by thinking out of the box...and it's not always going to be the most expensive option.

These tires come from Indonesia where the rubber trees are

Another person that understands the point of my question.....Thank you

And which brand of tires would that be? Most of the big tire companies make their tires all over the world. And they tend to keep quiet about where that is.

Example - "Michelin produces over 184 million tires in 68 production facilities in 17 countries." from their website. That includes SHANGHAI and SHENYANG China.
