It never ceases to amaze me how they just throw together some sticks for a nest. Yet they always seen to be successful, while I have seen Orioles’ magnificent hanging creations blown off a tree limb many times.

A flimsy assembly of pine needles, twigs, and grass stems, unlined and with little insulation for the young. Over 2 to 4 days, the male carries twigs to the female, passing them to her while standing on her back; the female weaves them into a nest about 8 inches across. Mourning Doves sometimes reuse their own or other species’ nests.

Doves stay in the flower beds outside my apartment and sit on window sills cooing . Walking just few feet away will flush them out even when dark , surprised not to see a Hawk hanging around

Cool, I've never seen a dove nest before.

Doves need to go back to nest making 101 school.:D Can't even call them nest but some how they work.:D Down here not as good as those pictures. Just a few sticks and some soft stuff (anything)

Every year we have some nest in a bush right ar our front door. I can look in there and the make believe you can't see them,:)
The also make "decoy" nests in other spots.

Today I saw a white spot, which seems to be an egg, when the dove got up for a moment.

Here is another close up
