As much as I enjoy looking at muscle cars from my youth, the Mrs and I stay as far away from Woodward as we can during this annual event. Tens of thousands of people line the streets and traffic is a nightmare. It stretches from Royal Oak to Pontiac.

It apparently has gained national attention. The Goodyear Blimp has flown over our house half a dozen times today and Scout looses her mind on every pass. Bark, bark, bark, bark, bark...

The photos don't do it justice, but it looks like it might hit out neighbors trees. The mrs won't let me shoot it down with my Bug-A-Salt!

We saw the blimp today as well. We were there on Wide Track watching for about 3 hours. My friend's daughter works in a building on Wide Track (now called the Woodward Loop) and they have a luncheon there on Friday and Saturday of the the cruise. Friday doesn't get too crazy until later in the afternoon, and we are always gone by then. Lots of really nice rides and some that make you scratch your head.

The house I grew up in Memphis was at the highest point northwest side of town . During events the Good Year blimp would be docked on Mud Island or small airport nearby. It would fly low over our house , one night with flashing lights . Being silly kids it was flying saucer

When I lived in S. Miami back in the early '50s, my dad took me to watch the blimp land at the local airfield where it was based. It's no easy task to land that thing. Every puff of wind sends it off course. It's a wrasling match between the wind and the blimp's ground crew.
