I found these on line recently and was wondering what anyone could tell me about them. Any threads discussing them I could be pointed to? Thanks. JA

That's just a graphic of adjusting S&W rear sights to move the POI to POA. Look very much like the rear sights on my Model 14, which I used for bullseye out to 50 yards, and had my sight cards listing the "clicks" need to adjust for each range.

Basically, you move the rear sight in the same direction as you want to move the bullet holes on the target. Simple.

I keep a laminated one in my range bag.

In the past i would forget what proper screw direction was needed for the adjustment i wanted.

Some of the ones on ebay are repros. But for my purposes it did not matter.

Thanks guys

paplinker I could not tell of these were reprints or not. Both have creases so I was not too worried if original or not. I only have $6 in the pair total. A person should question authenticity for just about anything found on fleabay. ;)
One of these will make it into my range bag also.
Did S&W include these with firearms at one time? If so what era and models? Thanks. JA

They were in with the gun along with other paperwork in the 1970's maybe earlier. They look original to me. They are sold for $5.00 to $10.00 each.

Thanks Don

That is the info I was seeking. JA

These are originals. There was another post on these a short while back when I posted these images.
I had a couple of fists full of them. As I stated in the other thread I set them up for my young son and daughter to shoot with my pellet pistol.
I was hawking the gun shops pretty regularly a few decades back and just grabbed a hand full when they were available. They were just handouts. They didn't ship with the guns that I am aware of. I think that was around the late 70's, early 80's.
I still have a few in the archives.:)

They did ship with target guns.

I guess I don't remember ever seeing one laying in a gun box at any of the many gun shows I have attended since the early 70's. Frequented many LGS's and many gun shows. Never saw one in the boxes.
I would think if that is the case then we would surely see someones' 'complete' gun package with one laying in it in a picture.

I stand corrected. Your correct. They never put them in boxes with target revolvers back in the 50's and 60's. Now can you tell us why they were printed, did you have to send 10 cents and a self addressed stamped envelope and they would mail one to you?

I see them every so often in boxes on auction sites. Whether they're original to the packages or not, I don't know, but I've always assumed they are. Another place they turn up fairly often is in the old range boxes made by outfits like Pachmayr and Gun-Ho.

Thank You db. I knew I was right. I have seen them in boxes as well. I have a K-22 stored away that has the target it it.

Beautiful package -db-

I would be very happy to have that in my safe. I love the stocks. Very nice. JA

To be clear, those aren't mine, just a couple images I found on Google.

They were shipped with guns with other paperwork. I am sure that S&W sales folks could also grab a handful and hand them out when they were visiting guns shops in their territory. It is also possible that shops collected them from the boxes before selling the gun to a customer and formed their own stockpile.

Most buyers back in the day did not give a rats patutie about the box or the paperwork and usually purchased a holster for their new firearm.

Many shops that I have been to have stacks of boxes in the back room if they saved them otherwise they went in the dumpster.

J&G has had sales of S&W boxes on fleabay from time to time usually selling 5 to 10 at a time.
