I got a Crimson Trace grip laser for my M&P 9mm and mine has the thumb safety on both sides. So the grip laser will not work.
I don't want to just cut the RT side part of it off… Is there an aftermarket one I can replace this stock one with that will just be on the left side?
Ronno:
There is somebody out there selling replacement thumb safeties, and they may have a left-side-only version.
However, a replacement "stock" safety is quite inexpensive. Just pop the thing out and cut off enough to clear the laser. Nothing to it.... The design wants the
center of the assembly to be there, and probably a good part of the sides, but you don't need the button or much of what is supporting it. If you ever decide to sell the thing (but not the laser) put the new one in place. There's no "tuning" required.
Should be an article here or on MP-Pistol to cover how to do this. If you look at the top of the frame, with the slide off, you'll see a bit of steel going over the side of the frame, holding the button. Cut that, just inside the frame, and you're done. (Take the sear block assembly out of the gun, first, to remove the thumb safety lever.)
I doubt if this would be a warranty issue, either, unless you try to cut that without removing it from the gun
