newspaper editor says its his job to investigate gun owners

This is a blog where the editor of the paper basically turns it into a rant and how it is the job of the paper to investigate pistol permit holders.

Just because you can register a gun doesn’t mean you should have one. Check out the Times-Union story about a mentally ill man who is wandering around saying he wants to kill the president who, according to the Secret Service, has 8 legally registered guns:

more people are killed by reckless drivers than shooters

Just because you can register (and drive) a car doesn’t mean you shoud have one. A lot more people are killed or injured by reckless drivers than reckless shooters.

We must ban cars!

Maybe we should ban dangerously unqualified newspaper editors. Then the US will be free from their stupidity.

We have an obvious need in this country to perform background checks on publishers and reporters, register typewriters and word processors, and a waiting period on anything written for publication (during which it can be scrutinized for accuracy, opened up for public comments, etc), perhaps some "needs testing" before we allow anyone to be turned loose with notebooks and pencils.

It amazes me that so many people fail to see the link between the First and Second Amendments, and push so hard in favor of infringement of one constitutional right with no apparent concern for the potential infringement of all constitutional rights.

Good point! Each amendment protects the other. If we lose one, the other will soon follow.

Personally I want to see salt, pepper, food, water, fishing, cars, stoves, furnaces, knives, forks, spoons, all glass items, clothes, shoes, belts, furniture, doors, books, book cases, stones and the sun banned as they all kill people and should be taken away so more can live.
That makes as much sense as banning firearms. No matter how strict the ban if you want one you will get one period.
I for one who like to see the media have to report the news instead of putting their slant on everything they talk about. One of the worst is that 90% of the firearms found in Mexico come from the US and they are still repeating this yarn as late as last week When the big shots were here in NM and they still don't have the truthful idea of what they are saying.
I do think one day they are going to try to disarm all of us and just may succeed but the price is going to be an underground that will torment the government until the end of time as people will kill people no matter if firearms are banned or not. Our only hope is that some politicians will show up that have a brain, understand the constitution and really care about Americans. The other thing we might see is the splitting of America into two or more little countries, would be sad but I can see this happening as there are already 20 plus states that are pushing states rights issues and they are not backing down to the Federal Government and if the Feds take action against these states it just might bite them.

Interesting happenings with the 'states rights issues'.

Question: Since the US Constitution formed the compact between and among the states, if the federal government oversteps the boundaries set in the US Constitution, isn't that compact broken at that point with each state free to pursue its own course?

No. That went away with the Wickard v. Filburn case decades ago. The states are free to go pound sand if they wish. :(

yes that state's rights issue is interesting to watch. I keep waiting for signs that the state govts begin working together instead of just one state taking an individual stand here and there. the fed is lost, this is the only real solution left. at the same time the states could also go in the other direction like what is happening in california..... on to the make everything illegal deal, it's like we remember in high school and trying to stay supplied with drugs. always a market regardless of laws but with illegal you have to become criminal to get it and you never know what you are getting. quality becomes more of an issue than price, as high as the prices would go. will be the same with guns if they ever outlaw them. they think guns are dangerous now, wait till everyone becomes armed with junk they paid a fortune for. and they would feel lucky to shoot those things without killing themselves. call it keiber pass west? it doesn't take even a business major to understand that where there is a market no law can destroy it. but then this has nothing to do with what is right and just, or even good business sense. our govt has declared war on us. that's really all it is.

All of mine are dumb as a post. I have to show them what to do EVERY time I take them out to the range. They never learn. But they've NEVER pooped on the carpet.
