OK, so I have a dumb question regarding my M&P .22 pistol. I recently bought a couple of bricks of Aguila 30 grain 1750 fps ,22 LR ammo.

Is it safe to use this in my M&P pistol? I was told that I should not use this in my Ruger 10/22 and that it should only be used in bolt action rifles. I can't find that written anywhere so I wonder if it's OK to use in my pistol?

Best advice would be to call S&W and check with them first.

That little guy is moving REALLY fast if the FPS is correct.

I say give it a try and see how it functions. It should still be made to Industry specs, just might not work reliably in you pistol. Won't know for sure unless you try

I see both points but I think maybe I should contact S&W, I don't want to damage my pistol. I normally shoot Winchester Superex (1300 FPS) plated and it works flawlessly. I was told on another forum that the case is longer than a standard .22LR and I believe it. I just don't want to mess up the chamber is all, I'm sure the barrel can take it.

Thank you for the replies, It's nice to know there are a lot of experienced shooters who can help when I don't know stuff.

Just shoot a few rounds and see if the gun functions. If longer, I bet no longer than Stingers... and no way to mess up a steel chamber with a brass case. Accuracy would be suspect but never know until you try.

The higher pressure could be more force on the slide, rails, etc because it is moving faster and more violently than originally designed. I would guess it would take a LOT of them to wear out the gun with 22 pressures, but that might be where it is noticed and warned against.

If it is a longer case (like the CCI Stinger), they may advise against it.

For the Stinger, I've called and asked -
Sig says no for the 1911-22
Ruger says OK for 10/22 (non-target spec barrel), but no for the Single Six & Bearcat

OK, so the shell case is longer, or probably longer. Sounds like I had better contact S&W before I try it, I really don't want to screw up my gun and I have a lot of standard .22LR ammo.

Thank you for the response.
