I would like to get Magpul furniture for my sport but I would love it in gray. I am thinking I will get all the accessories in tan and then "paint" them gray.

Has anyone used the DuraCoat Shake 'N Spray system?
How well does it do on plastic?
Any other recommendations for getting gray furniture?

Well I've been trying to buy plain old OD or foliege green Mapul stuff for a while now with no luck. Magpul is way behind in manufacturing ( Their really p***ing off their customers) You may have to settle for black. Another alternative for you is Mission First Tactical. I know they make some grey furniture.

The duracoat will flake off and scratch especially on plastic, the kylon paint for plastic lays down such a heavy coat and takes forever to harden. They make a paint for car interiors (vinyl) that I havent tried on plastic furniture but its a possibility and I think SSG posted something about calvary arms making grey furniture but my memory slips this early in the morning

I have used the duracoat shake n spray to finish an old s&w 916 12 gauge shotgun. The color I used was gloss black. The finish is beautiful as well as durable. Can't say much for how it works on plastic though.

You could also check out magpuls urban dark earth color. Its a larue tactical exclusive color. I don't know if that color is something your looking for or not, but its different and would save you the headache of painting.

Duracoat holds up great on plastic. I didn't use the rattle can kit but used the good ol' airbrush and compressor. Painted my entire CX4 ( infamous rep of the plastic gun) and it hasn't flaked in the slightest. Of course I was really careful in handling and prep.

As Wu_Who said, Duracoat holds up real well on plastic, and will outlive Krylon.
The key is preperation, any oils, solvents or dirt will cause problems, also too much/little hardener will cause flaking.
I've never used the shake and spray system, like most here I use an airbrush and compressor set up.

I had a stock Camo Duracoated and had some problems with flaking but I didn't do it so I dont know how carefully it was put on. I will agree with that. The only problems I have with the duracoat on a couple of my mausers is the fact that it wears off easily, although as I said before I didnt do it and have no idea how well the prep work was done. My Dad and I are talking about doing it ourselves because we read a lot of good things about it but the person doing it for us, lets just say it hasnt been as durable as what all the other reviews say.

Are you 100% they even used Duracoat? I say take the adventure of doing it yourself. It's easier then assembling an upper. ;)

One big difference for me is I blast ALL parts I'm going to DuraCoat first with 80 grit Aluminum Oxide, it gives the paint a much better base to grip.
If it's a Ferrous metal, then I Parkerize afterward.
If you apply DuraCoat to a real smooth finish then it can scrape or wear off.
Here's a P-22 I did for one of my wife's friends. (hey she wanted Pink digital)
