I have tried to find grips that do justice to my modern RB 629.

I tried Altamont and, although pleased at first, thought they were a little too small.

Also, I really wanted a grip that looked like authentic SW grips from a bygone age.

I took the plunge and bought the Eagle Heritage grips.

I am happy to say that the look, feel and quality is absolutely first rate.

The checkering is nice but very sharp. I foresee ouchies the next time I go to the range. I also foresee Pachmayr Decelerators for future range use.

If I had to ding Eagle it would be that they do not offer a half-moon speedloader cut out option.

In case you're wondering why the SW logo is not laser etched, I had the gun sent back to SW and had it removed and properly stamped like God intended.

I like the coin/medallion better as well. Those do look nice. What did you do with the Altamonts? I was wondering because you mentioned RB. I assume it means round butt. I was wondering if you might be considering selling them, and if so, what they look like as you mentioned they were smaller. I have smaller hands, and have a kind of custom model 25 that was converted to a round butt years ago. It feels super awesome with a set of Lew Horton N frame RB finger groove grips, but they need to stay on my model 24. The Model 25 is in 45 colt, and has the large round butt pachmayer grips on it which I do not like at all. Thanks.

Great looking grips. Mine says hello.

Just bought a Model 25-15. I overlooked the lock, which I was pretty sure was going to prevent me from ever buying another new S&W revolver. On a bright blued gun, it kinda disappears. What sold me was the trigger pull. It was the best I've experienced on an unmolested S&W since they put the firing pins in the frame and went MIM on some of the parts. All the machining is right. Gap between crane and frame is a very narrow line. The barrel is timed correctly. Barrel cylinder gap is .003" Very nice work. You'd get little if any better had a bunch of hand fitting been done as in days of yore. But then, we come to the grips. Rather less impressed with those. I was thinking about what to do, and now I may have the answer. Thanks, guys!

I have a set on my pre 25-2 and I really like them. But I bought mine years ago, when i swallowed hard at spending $100 on a set of grips. I can't get over the current prices!

So I decided on Herret Ropers, with a wood upgrade, when I decided to put something special on my 27-2.

Culinas and Browns are beautiful, but they cost more than some of the guns I've owned over the years!!!

I have a set of Eagle Heritage Walnuts that came on a gun that I bought, and I managed to buy a set of the same grip in rosewood for about 80.00. I like them a lot. I think the walnuts are 200 now.

Fine set of grips. They look great. I'd rather have aggressive checkering than checkering that's too soft/smooth. By the way what does one have to do in order to get that stamp? I have a 686+ with the laser etching and would love to send it in for a proper stamp. Can I ask how much S&W charged for it?

I had an issue with the gun so it was already at SW.

I asked them if they would remove the laser etched logo and have it properly stamped.

They were happy to do so.

You can tell that after they removed it, they had to keep polishing the rest of the gun so the finish would match. Came back looking very lovely.

It cost a shade over 100 bucks. 105? Something like that.

Totally worth it and I will continue to have it done on any SW I buy that has the laser etching.
