there was a thread a few weeks ago w/ eagle pictures/ nests. if you go to kdka.com, HAYS EAGLE LIVE CAM will come up. so far 2 have hatched, 1 more maybe today. the eagle has already beat off a racoon. tv news just stated that they will leave in july. anybody know why? i thought they stayed in the area! the rivers are now clean, more fish. seems more eagles in the area. from my house, maybe 4 miles as the eagle flys. i can hear the same train whistles at my house that is heard on the live cam. hays is a very small boro in the burgh. one red light. during lent it has a church that on friday sells a ton of fish - dinners/ sandwichs every week. if anyone can post the http of the webcam, thank you.

i was watching fox news this morning and had the eagle u speak of defending its nest from a racoon on night vision. and during daylight u could see one of the little hatchlings. really cool

it is cold this morning, 30 deg. now. going to 60, maybe. the eagle will get up off the last egg. they are cute little buggers, i'm sure soon she'll be bringing fish from the MON river. it will be interesting watching them grow. and to see if she catches bass or walleye for the hatchlings. there is musky in the allegheny river. the nest is maybe 4 miles, as the eagle flys to the POINT in Pittsburgh.

just found out if you click on the Wild Earth top right corner of cam picture, then go down the page, right bottom, click on pittsburgh eagle feed, it shows live cam yesterday of both eagles feeding the eagletts.

Tried getting the Hayes Eagle cam on Firefox, but I get a message stating "could not load plugins, file not found".:(

If I use IE, I can get the eagle cam to work.

I too have been watching the Pittsburgh bald eagles. Here's a link to the incident another poster mentioned above which shows one of the parents fending off the intrusion of a raccoon at night > Video - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette . In case the link that "hillbilliy" posted doesn't work or load properly, here's the Post Gazette's direct link to the camera > LIVE: Watch Pittsburgh's bald eagles - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette . This page has some of the particulars about this nesting pair posted below the live camera feed. The only bad thing about this camera is that when the wind is blowing, the viewer almost needs to take Dramamine! Enjoy and keep your fingers crossed that they are successful and the whole family thrives!

"bearfoot" also asked "tv news just stated that they will leave in july. anybody know why?" I believe the answer to that is that the parents will usually stay in their nesting vicinity as long as there is available food (cleaning up Pittsburgh's rivers and allowing fish to come back is the reason they are there to begin with). Once the eaglets learn to fly and hunt etc. on their own, they will be forced by their parents to leave the nesting area to search for an area they can "call home" and then begin to raise young of their own once matured.

i was watching friday when the first eaglet hatched...just missed the 2nd eaglet sunday morning...the third egg was showing signs of pipping last night...

pipping is where the eaglet is starting to break through the shell...it is seen by a dark sop on the shell...it was visible on the last egg yesterday so it will not be long before there are 3 little ones for mom and pop to care for...

our two kids(ages 12 and 4) are enthralled with these eagles...i had the computer with the live feed on all day sunday...they kids have seen feedings, mom and dad switching roles for a few minutes...etc

i have been watching on firefox...not a problem...every once in while it freezes and i have to refresh, but it usually comes right back on...once i had to completely reboot the 'puter to get it...my wife has had it playing on her iphone and she has about a 30 second delay from my computer stream

this morning i noticed it looks like 2 carp in the 1 oclock position in the nest. they keep the food in one area. the wind was bad yesterday, maybe 35 miles a hour. the trees in the yard were rocking back and forth. when i fished at Pymatuming years ago, the eagles would fly around if they saw u catching fish.
