I know not everyone is a fan. Just thought I’d share from the email I received this morning from Lenny Magill.

I am not a Glock Guy and don't own any although I will fully admit for LEO's a Glock is an extremely good choice for reliability, ease of use, steadiness in the hand, accuracy and longevity.

I would think that as of recent times, Glock has had their share of departments that have either switched to Sig's and other brands or allowed their Officers a choice of what to carry. Being that the US Army switched from the Beretta's to Sig's probably did not help their sales either as many civilians sort of follow "what's good enough for Uncle Sam is good enough for them" mentality followed the trend.

So I'd guess that Glock is now culling down their vast line-up and condensing it to streamline costs and expenses. Ya gotta admit, they DID have a huge choice of models that were somewhat redundant anyway. Personally I never really cared to own a Glock and always thought of one as mainly for those who carry one in an exposed duty holster where size and width matter much less. They do make slim and pocket type pistols however they greatly take a second seat to many of the new Micro 9's that carry almost twice as many rounds while being smaller and lighter. Quite honestly..... I am shocked that Glock has never had a real competitor to the Sig P365, SA Hellcat, FN Reflex, etc. Really shocked at that one!

According to the video, the vast majority of Police that still carry Glocks have moved back to 9mm. That’s why they’re dropping .40 cal (per video). Why the 45 GAP cartridge lasted this long I’ll never understand. I own a few Glocks, but I own a few of about everything.
I think it’s a combo of what you said about other manufacturers offering better options and Glock had simply pushed so many models out into the market that it was saturated with too many variations of basically the same thing with a tweak here or there that made no realistic sense.
Theres just so many other brands out there with higher capacity, better feel and desirable innovations that Glock never tried to match. And they’ve had years to do so.

Hopefully this is an indication that they're rolling out a clean slate in the near future. I think the new Ruger RXM, strangely enough, paves the way Glock should go with a serialized trigger group and modular frames. They'll probably make the basic models till they close their doors, but need something fresh or they'll just see market share bleed away.

Kind of in the same way the Lionheart is a S&W "Gen 4", the Ruger really is mostly Glock DNA but with some actual improvements, something Glock shies away from. Their lack of options created an entire industry to fill the gaps.

I think companies like Sig and Ruger are moving forward fast with their interchangeable fire control inserts that can be easily removed and placed into a different grip module. Talk about options. That’s the kind of innovation that drives pistol progress forward.

I think the G43/43X was intended to do so? My son had one with 15 round (aftermarket) mags that seemed very comparable to my P365, IMO.

As I have posted, I do have one Glock.
It’s a 43x with the aftermarket 15 round Mags.
My situation is I also have two Sig 365s which I prefer over the Glock.
So the Glock is relegated to a backup role.
Yes I could sell it!
But I’m Gunning up, I ain’t gunning down!
And the Glock is an excellent pass down to family- friends.

Glocks are in the holsters of law enforcement for the same reason the S&W Model 10's dominated for 75 years: PRICE. Glock under cuts other manufacturers on price to get their foot in the door and then the agencies are stuck with them.

Friends don't let friends buy glocks.

Most of the "models" are actually just features. For example, the G23 is not going away, just G23's with certain features.

I love reading Glock threads on this forum where the oft regurgitated Glock myths get repeated over and over by the non-Glock owners. :)

I own plenty of Glocks. Just passing along the list that Lenny Magill read on his Rumble video. I understand that many are features as mundane as trigger spring weight. Don’t shoot the messenger for simply posting something I’ve yet to read on any other forum.

I'm skeptical of that video, and think some people are over their skis on this.

If you venture over to the USA Glock website... all those models are still there for sale. Including one of the three best Glocks ever made: my favorite G37 .45 GAP.

On the Euro Glock site, those models are listed as discontinued. Which makes sense.

You’re correct that they don’t make a true competitor to the P365. From the standpoint of concealability, capacity, and shootability far better than it has any right to, the vanilla P365 truly can’t be beat. I’ve always been a die-hard SIG fan, and only carried Glocks because I was required to. I swore I’d never spend my own money on one. But that all changed with the G48. No pistol I’ve ever had or tried fits my hand more naturally than the 48. The closest in second place was the original P225’s. I think the G48 is the epitome of size for a 9mm pistol; it is large enough to feel serious and controllable, and not overly large for the cartridge, like so many 9mm’s seem to be. The 10-round mags are not a turn-off for me; like many revolver fans, I’m not overly concerned with capacity…I think controllability, accuracy and reliability far outweigh it. It’s also incredibly handy to have magazines that you can travel to any of the 50 states with, without worrying about violating local laws. Long story short, I think the 48 is an incredibly underrated gun, mainly because so many folks prioritize stats over other benefits that require more thought and examination. But for me, discovering the 48 was an eye opening experience.
