In our book Holstory Red refers to “ the new import from Arkansas Andy Anderson.” Andy was a contemporary of Arvo Ojala, one of the Three Aces and subsequent designer and maker of fast draw and leatherslap rigs.
I recently ran into this holster with an Anderson Saddlery stamp. My friend Lawandorder knows about leather and Arkansas ( and much more ) so I asked him what he knew about this maker. It turns out that Andy Anderson had this saddlery before moving out to California and holster fame in 1957. Red knew this and added that Roy Baker the Pancake maker apprenticed under him. This example is nicely tooled with no welt- it’s another piece of holstory.

This is really amazing. In Bob Arganbright's rare book "The Fastest Guns Alive" is a picture of a double fast draw rig stated as being Anderson's personal rig dating to the late 40s. It looks identical to a version he made in the late 50s after leaving the Ojala shop. But you can plainly see the outline of the metal lining. If that's correct then it was made in Arkansas, probably with the same stamp as your holster, before he came to CA. But how could it be metal lined that early before he met Ojala?
