Hi , i hate to be a pest but something odd happened on the antiques forum , probably nothing.Ive been trying to identify an old S&W and only today discovered where its SN is , it is apparantly a 4 digit number and has an X prefixing it.Was i unwise to put the number out on the net? Also does 4 digits have any significance , sorry to ask again but if ive made a boo boo i need to some deleting. Thanks

Nah...the habit of X'ing out serial numbers stems from people thinking that someone might try to say the gun was stolen from them and want it back.
I have posted both ways, but if someone tried to say it was theirs they'd have to come up with solid proof (ie police reports, receipts, etc.)

Thanks 29aholic , id hoped Kim might have said something by now on the query of 2 lemon squeezer threads with the same serial number. He is helping me identify it , trying to on another forum.

Pictures are there as the site itself hosts them.I left it a while and noticed the threads went stone dead after that and i was getting some great info , i also got great info from Kim so im grateful to everybody , just wanted to clear it up.Thanks

No problem jamesy. We are always kinda gun shy when we something like this from people with low post counts as we have had trouble in the past with trolls.

To help with Lee's bandwidth get together with Kim and try deleting one of your posts, and I'll do the same on my 2 post question.

BTW welcome to the forum.

Thanks Curtis , i can delete mine now i reckon , everybodys pointed me to right answers , now all i got to do is get the bugger open
