Wow that's a lot of money for an M&P based pistol...cool though.

That's a customized by Ed Brown M&P. There's a lot of upgrades in that gun. Like the Beretta/Wilson Combat partnership.

You get what you pay for.

Base gun $550
Throw away the slide, barrel, locking block, extractor, sear, striker safety, trigger, sights, back plate, mag bottom plates and replace them with custom high quality parts including a slide milled for an included optic (with fill plate), match extended/threaded barrel with custom finishes, mag well and an APEX trigger setup, custom finishes—all custom fit by hand, top QC, warranty.

It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. EB has been doing the same for 1911 pattern guns for decades and their build time is months out. Quite a few people are willing to pay for this quality. EB knows what they are doing with this new offering.

I have $1900 in this M&P 9mm V1 and consider it money well spent.

Prices are on the same level as Salient Arms and ZEV.... I won't buy any of them fancy guns but if I would, I prefer Ed Brown.

I said this in the Ed Brown forum and I'll say it again here; I find this a weird move for Ed Brown.

They are a full up custom pistol manufacturer. In my opinion they make the best 1911 on the planet. However, for them to take an M&P, strip everything but the frame and sear block, and then put on a lot of drop in parts is just strange to me. I mean, why not just build their own polymer gun including the frame? The clearly have the means and talent.

I have an M&P 45 full size. I've put an Apex FSS in it. I've got no more than $750 total in the gun. If I were to add a Trijicon RMR, it can be done for about $700 more. That's a total of $1,450 and it would be a truly marvelous gun.

More importantly, I don't think the extra $1k would help me shoot any better. I use mine for defensive purposes. I can put two rounds on target at 10 yards in under 2.6 seconds with the gun I have now. Will this make me more accurate? Faster? Well, it might help shave off 0.1 seconds for a really good shooter, but for us regular guys I don't think it will help do any better than I already am.

Don't get me wrong, I'm the biggest of Ed Brown fans. I'll take my Ed Brown 1911 over every handgun out there. Anyone who buys this new gun will like it. This just seems like a weird move to me.
