My range buddy and myself were recently offered a couple of 1943 1911A-1's . They were super clean , probably never issued . As if he didn't get enough of my money , he then offered me an Ed Brown Kobra Carry , lnib .

I know nothing about the higher end 1911's , so who do I ask ? Where does Ed Brown fit in with the A list of 1911 specialists ? I shot it and it's a h*** of a 1911 . I don't care for the shorter barrels , I prefer 5in . I would also prefer it in 38Super , but for $1500 I can't complain .

Congrats! $1500 is 1/2 price or a little better. EB definitely makes A list 1911s. I have a Kobra Carry and Special forces, both fine examples. I prefer EB over most of the other A list 1911s.

A friend has a Ed Brown and it is equal in quality to my GunCrafter Inds, NightHawks and Wilsons. Les Bauer is probably right up there too but I don't have one. Great buy. The 1911's sound good as well.

I was shocked when I was given the price . Then I went to their sight and looked at the price of new ones , then hopped over to Guns International to see what used ones go for . Looks like folks tend to hang on to them , but there's a few blued ones for sale , SS ones are almost nonexistent . They want d*** near as much for a used one as a new one .
