Grew up listening to his music. Just saw him in some family reality show when I was flipping through the channels. I hadn’t realized he was fighting cancer. R.I.P. Eddie...had some outstanding teen times with you blasting out of the car stereo.

He was diagnosed last year with the cancer, and it had spread to his stomach and liver.

I read and watched his comments on his life and illness, and he was completely supported by his lovely wife.

He faced his illness with bravery and dignity. I liked his music a lot, and have good memories of people and places associated with it.

I have more respect for him as a man now. He was a singer, songwriter, outstanding performer, and a family man. He achieved success in his chosen field. What more could be asked of a man?

I hope his passing was peaceful and without pain.

Rest In Peace, Eddie (Money) Mahoney.

Guess I don't spend enough time indoors. Unfamiliar with this guy.

I just read about this a little while ago. He had stage 4 esophageal cancer but according to Wikipedia his death was due to "complications from heart valve surgery at the hospital in Los Angeles on September 13, 2019, at age 70", directly quoted from Wikipedia.

@rockquarry, he did Two Tickets to Paradise, Shakin' and Take Me Home Tonight among other songs.

Big time late 70s and 80s act, several hits. Used to be a New York cop. Always had an extremely tight band backing him. Acted like a moth near a light bulb on stage.

YouTube

I watched some of the video; don't think I missed out on anything.

Makes me think of my younger years from the 1970s and 1980s. Fine memories. The song I remember most because it came out when I was either in high school or had just graduated was the song Shaking, which also had Apollonia Kotero who went on to star in the movie Purple Rain with Prince. And, yes, she was Shaking. :)

RIP...

How many here mis-heard the lyrics to that one?

Our favorite with misheard lyrics is Deep Purple Knocking At Your Back Door. Some of what is sang with all the noise and instruments sounds dirty but is not.

This quote from Eddie pretty well sums things up.

“The kids aren’t in jail, they’re not in rehab, nobody’s wrecked the car this week and there’s still milk in the refrigerator. I’m having a good month.”
