I'm familiar with the Model 65

How many other K frames come in 3 inch?

Are the types of barrels different... ie... thin or bull barrel.

The Model 10 was made in both a "standard" and "heavy" 3 inch barrel in 38 Special. This started with the 10-5 and continued with the 10-7. Most were sent overseas for foreign police forces. Hope this helps.

M64 3 inch guns are still made but only by special order for police or security. Great guns with outstanding balance.

They also made the Model 10-8 & 10-10 in some 3" versions. The 10-10 also has a full lug. as pictured below. I have a 10-8 on the way.

I saw one at my local pawn shop the other day, and just looked odd.

I kept saying to myself, that doesn't look like 4' barrel.

Pretty sure it was a 10-7. By its cosmetic condition it was not a steal by any means at $475, so I didn't fondle her.

Trying to find something that will work as my wife's carry/purse.

Fondled 2 and 3 inch Ruger SP101's for the first time and gotta say it was really impressive. Compact and the weight class is about right for my SO.

I was looking for a nice S&W steel frame 2-3 inch, however also saw the Ruger SP 101.also for my wife. I like the look and feel of the stainless steel. I have reservations about the light weight frames from S&W. Any suggestions ? A lot like the light weight 638.

Couple model 65's

The model 65 is my favorite because of its feel and the fact it has the fixed sights. Here are 2 of mine, one is a 65-5 with a factory bead blast finish and tuned by S&W.
The other is a 65-2 with the recessed cylinders and pinned barrel. These guns can be had at good prices, and are a joy to shoot. Mine only see .38 special loads. No magnum for these babies.
augy :)

My wife has the current production Performance Center model 67F-Comp. It's a mighty fine tool.

A 64 is one of the very few 3" post-war, pre-locks I am missing... Still searching...

Those of you talking the Ruger SP101 - excellent, excellent revolver! I conceal carry a DAO SP101 .357 regularly as it's lost easily on my frame.

The Model 547 9mm came in a heavy three inch barrel also. Clockwise from the top, Colt Diamondback, Model 547, Model 64-3, Model 66-3, Model 66 2 1/2 inch, Model 66-3, Model 65-3, and a Model 13-2.

3" model 66s came with standard barrels from 1985 to about 2000, then with the 66-5 the barrels became heavy or 'bull' up through the model 66-6.
Here is a link to my thread on model 66s.

Model 10s were special order items only in 3" until the 1980s
this is a 10 from 1959.

These have all been covered in threads in the past.
A search for 3 inch should produce some good results.

Good luck
