Electricity-Free Weekends

I am in the process of finding another provider and the free weekend/night carrot is being dangled before my nose. The rates are higher per KWhr, but since I work during the weekdays, I turn my air pretty much off all day and it seems like free weekends would be a good thing. Free nights is another thought.
Anybody use these plans and have any comments?

Can you read your meter now?
Take some readings for a couple of weeks and run the numbers. This would be the time of year to check.
It is an interesting proposal. I've been places that would charger higher rates if you exceeded a threshold demand.
Ultimate goal is to keep overall customer demand within companies generating capacity. Otherwise they buy power from another company or utilize more expensive means of generating power.
