This may be the last Flintlock that I add to my collection for some time. It is the last gun that completed my core collection. Built by Danny Caywood as a English Fowler in a .62 Smoothbore

If you could have just one flintlock that would do it all...then perhaps the English Fowler in a .62 Bore (20 Gauge) would do the trick. These smoothbores are capable shotguns...and excellent short range guns with patch and ball. All upland game to deer and bear have fallen to these versitile guns.

This was the final gun I aquired to complete my core Flintlock collection. But if you were looking to find just one gun to fill almost every need...this would be the style and bore/gauge... :)

I'll most likely do a pictorial on how to load this gun and use it for patched ball...with a Turkey load developement to show how a traditional wad column was built... Perhaps I should share that here.

My son has an English Fowler made by James Klein. These are the only pics I have of it. He has taken some Quail with it.

Beautiful guns (both of them). I agree with your premise that this style and gauge will do it all.

Good shooting!
