Looking to toss this on my carry pistol, never messed with a dot before. What MOA should I go with?

I think that ^^ is sound. Remember that irons are often about 10-11 MOA, so half that is a big deal, yet quick to pick up. There are transition classes for RDS at Gunsite; a friend of mine teaches many of them.

If its your first dot optic place in a handgun other than your carry gun till your split times are at least as good as with stock sights . A 22lr with a top rail or add-on rail makes for low cost practice . Then make it the Green Circle dot as most folks can see the green optic better than red in a wider range of backgrounds , even green bushes and in brite sunny days . You have options how you use the dot or circle , together or separate.

I like to practice with the green circle as it only covers 8" at 25 yards and mays ringing even 6" steel simple at 15 o 25 yards .

Unless you're looking to shoot tiny, tiny groups at distance (like it's going on a .22LR or a slim slide gun like a 1911 or CZ-75 that you're using for bullseye shooting), I'd go with the 6 MOA. That's still only 1.57" at 25 yards.

Everybody's eyes are different, but the 6 MOA dot on my EPS Carry looks cleaner/more defined than when I set my 507 Comp to 2 MOA dot only. Due to the extra smearing/comet tail that I get with my astigmatism, the 6 MOA dot isn't functionally 3 times bigger, it's more like 1.5-2x as big.
