Thank heaven this woman had a gun and knew how to use it. An escaped convict armed with a knife kicked in her back door. She shot him in the head and that was that. I will not hold my breath waiting to see this on the network news.

Full Story:
PICKENS COUNTY, SC
One of two inmates who escaped a South Carolina jail early Tuesday was shot dead by a homeowner near the jail, and the second one is in police custody, according to authorities.
Two detention officers were "physically assaulted and taken captive" at the Pickens County detention center around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, FOX Carolina reported.
One inmate was taken into custody after the escape, but the other was fatally shot by a homeowner not far from the jail, according to WYFF.
Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley identified the dead inmate as 30-year-old Bruce Webb McLaughlin Jr. He died at Greenville Memorial Hospital from a gunshot wound to the head, Kelley said in a release.
A homeowner who lives near the jail called 911 around 3 a.m., according to WSPA. She shot the inmate, identified as McLaughlin, when he was near her bedroom door after he kicked in her back door, the station reported.

The woman lives alone and has a concealed-weapons permit, the sheriff said, according to The Greenville News. The inmate was armed with a knife when the homeowner shot him, the newspaper reported.

I don't care what was on his rap sheet. In fact, I don't care if he wasn't an escaped convict and had never been arrested before.

He kicked in a door, had a knife, and advanced into the would be victims home and got shot.

I would like to know what caliber and how many times she shot.

More useful info would be, what was on his rap sheet, and what gun was used.

What is it....

There's been a lot of tough-guy responses in this post. I hope I don't see the time where some lowlife forces me to win. We do arm ourselves to win and if the time comes, then it's time to do just that. All the peanut-gallery bravado puts us in a bad light. It makes us look like we're just itchin' to take out a bad guy. Let's all hope we never have to.

I think of this lady who was forced to win. Win she did, but she'll bear some scars for a long time. Depending on her mindset it could be very mentally destructive or maybe she'll get over it pretty quickly. Regardless, the crook essentially forced her to do what she did and I rather doubt she'll be braggin' about it on an internet forum.
