Escaped murderers: thoughts?

I'd love to see a famed Texas Ranger deal with them his way. The Ranger in thought: J.J. McQuade.:D

This whole story makes me crazy.

Those two monsters should have been locked in cages wearing stripes, not learning a trade or wearing street clothes. What on earth were the people in charge of that place thinking? You got a guy who shot a LEO fifteen times, and another that carved his victim up...these are NOT people you want anywhere near other human beings, in or out of prison!

News stories are pointing out that local residents have their weapons handy now, in case these guys come knocking. But one legal eagle I heard interviewed on the news said that in New York State, you have a legal obligation to flee from someone who enters your home! You have no legal right to defend yourself or your home if somebody breaks in, unless you are personally being attacked and there is no other way to get away. I guess I should be surprised to hear that, but given the other goofy laws they've passed there, I'm not.

There is nothing to keep these beasts from killing other people (what are they going to get, another life sentence?), so I hope they are caught or killed quickly, before any innocent lives are lost... :(

An opportunity was lost in the courtroom quite a few years ago, when the Empire State declared a moratorium on capital punishment.

Hopefully they will be found and [ineffectively] try to shoot it out with the cops.

It would be funny if they got waxed as effortlessly as the two Islamist goofs at the "draw Muhammed" contest. It'd be even funnier if some suburbanite with a Mossberg 500 did the job.

Thoughts........hmmmm.....so here I am about 45 miles SW of Dannemora with frequent trips to Plattsburgh which is about 50 miles NE from me forming a bit of a triangle to the three locations Dannemora being more north, Plattsburgh more east.2 days ago I decide to go to Gander Mt. in P'burgh to get some .357 ammo knowing I will most likely go through a road block. So I take my motorcycle, my dog (Jack Russell Terrier) seated on his sheepskin strapped to the gas tank, expecting to be waved right through. I'm 5'3" with all the gear, boots, leather jacket, gloves, full face helmet, and my dog is wearing his "doggles" as usual. I get to the check point and the first 2 troopers on my side stop me and tell me to take my helmet off...I say "take my helmet off??" They say take your helmet off. I motion to the side as I know this will take a minute, pull over, kill the bike- glasses off first, find a place for $500 glasses, I un strap and lift helmet about 3" over the top of my head and they say "ok you're good". I think that's the closest I ever came to looking like a convict (maybe not:eek:) Went home a different way, no road block. I know they were doing their job, but it was mildly annoying. I hope they get these guys soon.

Stay safe, John

I am not overly worried about it. I have little doubt that those running things have far more blood on their hands than those two.

I might suggest that you look on a map and figure out where the Clinton Correctional Facility, Danemora, N.Y. is, in relation to New York City.

Geography not a strong suit around here.
More guns in NY than AZ, from someone who has houses in both.

LOL yeah NY is free.... hahahaha

Too bad you cant carry them and use them in self defense outside when you need to. Yeah yeah, you are one of the special ones with a permit..... unlike millions of others but you still can't defend yourself like you can in a free state.

Do you drive around your town and area like this legally? I do. How's that work in the free state of NY?

My wife is somewhat of a pacifist, a Methodist Pastor who normally leaves it up to me to be armed. About a year ago, there was a shooting nearby, a guy got killed and his shooter took it on the lam. He was hiding in the woods near our house, the Sheriffs office did a reverse 911 to alert the citizenry, I wasn't home, so the wife armed herself with one of my revolvers.

She went to a church business meeting later that night, and someone there asked if anyone had brought a gun since there was a murderer on the loose. Of the 12 people present, eight had handguns, with several shotguns in vehicles outside....

The murderer was caught later that night less than a mile from our house.

Back when I lived in Ohio, it was the standing practice to shoot escaped prisoners on sight. After all, they were fleeing felons. That was never codified anywhere, but it was well known to all. I used to work about a mile from Ohio's maximum security prison in Lucasville, and came to know quite a few guards and prison officials, especially the Deputy Warden. And there were a few escapes while I was there, but they didn't get very far. Or live very long.

I believe that our fish & game laws make it illegal to drive around with a loaded long gun. If you have a carry permit, you may have a loaded handgun in your vehicle.

I'm thinking more along the lines of Capts. Allee and Gonzauallas.

One made the trip to Mexico to return a fugitive murderer, and three days later, came back alone. When asked, he simply replied "That case was closed.":)
