You need two of them? I love the 625 platform, and find that the -3 version with a three inch barrel is about as good as it gets for a big bore revolver. One popped up for a smoking price on my local gun store's gunbroker so I went to the store this morning and gladly paid the "didn't know what they had" asking price.

It's in better condition than the first I bought but not by much. Serial numbers are BENxxxx and within 400 of each other. It also was sporting the pachs. I do love monitoring the auction sites for local storefront deals. I knew if it got a bid it would have gone for 1k+ easy. Saved a couple franklins just buying it in person :)

The search is on for a ported example in 45acp and a 45 LC Lew Horton.

Very nice. Do you guys carry those? The seem too big for that. Or just HD or range gun?

I love having pairs of them.Use to practice that years ago.Thats a nice pair you now have.A treesome is not out of the question either, should you happen to run across another one.

Come and knock on my door, we'll be waiting for you...

I need a few more sets of badgers or round butt combats. I brought the 5 inch to the range last weekend and its stupid accurate.

ABPOS, of course you carry them! OWB in a pancake isn't too hard to conceal.

I bought a new 3" 625-3 twenty-five years ago. I'm unfamiliar with "stupid" accurate, but mine shoots .452" cast bullets quite accurately. A few years later, I bought a new 5" 625; also a fine cast bullet revolver.

Nevertheless, these are huge, heavy guns. I don't a carry a handgun, but, if I did, I could find a far less burdensome revolver than an N-frame to carry concealed on a daily basis.

For anyone who has carried concealed revolvers regularly for many years, it becomes apparent that with revolvers this large, an inch or so less barrel length offers little or no advantage in the capability to conceal. Much of the bulk and weight is in the frame.

The Pachmayr Grippers were standard on the 625-2 and -3.

I have a -2 and a 4 inch -3 but never had a 3 incher.

About the only handguns I ever have twins of were my work guns. That way, if one broke, got taken for evidence or was just dirty and I didn't have time to clean it before my shift, I had another one ready to go, like a clean extra shirt.

A good deal on one I already have makes good trading stock, however.

SORRY FOR THE LACK OF A PIC. I HAVE A 4" MODEL OF 1989, IN .45 ACP, THAT IS THE MOST ACCURATE AND FUN TO SHOOT, OF ALL OF MY S&W REVOLVERS........

IMHO, ONE DOES NOT GAIN A FULL APPRECIATION OF THE STELLAR PERFORMANCE OF THE .45 ACP CARTRIDGE, UNTIL YOU GAIN SOME EXPERIENCE, SHOOTING IT OUT OF A 625........

The front 3" and the 5" started out as square butt targets and have been modified to round butt. The 3" by me and the 5" by another member.

NICE WORK. FINGER GROOVES OF ANY KIND, JUST DON'T FIT MY HAND. MASSAD AYOOB SAYS THAT THEY ONLY FIT 10% OF SHOOTERS. UNFORTUNATELY, I'M NOT ONE OF THEM. DESPITE THEIR TACTICOOL LOOK, I ALWAYS SWAP THEM OUT, FOR AHRENDS SMOOTH, TACTICAL, CONVERSION GRIPS.......

YOUR GRIPS WOULD WORK FOR ME.....

The 3" 625-3 is a terrific revolver. I ran across mine, which also has a BEN prefix, back in March. It was sitting next to a 627-0 at the gun store. Couldn't pick between them, so I bought both of them. The "Model of 1989" guns were definitely one of Smith & Wessons better idea's.
