Although a knife fan, NOT interested in collecting these. I've only learned of them recently. Never seen one in person. The Russian Ballistic knife is ILLEGAL & BANNED almost everywhere. The Gas Injection knife should be. Both are impractical for Knife Duties - other than murder or mayhem. Illuminating to know about though.

OP is on a firearm board but feels knives are dangerous and should be illegal?

Knives and guns are tools, they don’t cause harm by themselves. However, cars will kill far more each and every year than knives and guns put together. Again, only with the help of a person.

Knives are like guns. The evil lies with the user not the tool.
I get it - mostly agree, I own/carry a few knives that are frowned upon. even though they have other uses than the above - which are useful only for killing. I'd hate explaining WHY I was carrying one of THEM. Which Is why I used the dramatic title.

Not to shake your faith or alter your world view or anything, but this is a weapons discussion forum. 99.9% of what we discuss are weapons intended to kill. To my way of thinking, that is all well and proper. It's the motives which drive us to kill that can drag folks into murky waters.

The handguns carried, the rifles and shotguns kept loaded in the bedroom, etc. aren't there in case of a strong urge to go plinking or target shooting at any random hour.

I sometimes have to find euphemistic reasons to describe firearms and firearms ownership to "non-gun" people. Most folks will back off when told they're used for target shooting, competitions of all kinds, even hunting. However, truth be told, "firearms" is, itself, a euphemism for "weapons". The fact that we can "play" with them is quite secondary to their design, and Shrek hits the proverbial nail on the head there!

There you go again...using logic...you have been warned about this...it will reflect in your evaluation

Frankly I appreciate this thread. It is always useful to know your enemies and their weapons and tactics. If I were a spy, industrial or gvmt in a former soviet bloc country, I would want to know distances to keep away from shady characters.

Ooo.. retiredw4, I think you have the real one. A lot of them were made for commercial use and lower quality.

I got to handle one once, but the owner wouldn't let us fire it 😆

At least you don't live in Australia with our stricter firearm and prohibited weapon laws. A few years ago, the state I lived in (New South Wales - Sydney is the capital) banned all "Zombie" style knives (sales and possession)! Only a couple of months ago, Victoria (capital city is Melbourne) banned machete's as they were being used in Gang related crimes. And still, with all this regulation, every second night there is some sort of public place (eg assassinations, ambush, drug-deal gone wrong) or drive-by shooting amongst the warring organised crime groups. My state also bans Butterfly/Balisong knives along with Flick, OTF, and assisted opening knives. A few years ago, the Australian Border Force attempted to stop the importation of any "flipper" knives however this was later abandoned.

Exactly

The Benelli M4 with a DeltaPoint that lives in my bedroom has one purpose and it isn't to break skeet targets
