I've been mulling over all the bellicosity of this administration and it's gun-hating allies immediately following the Sandy Hook sacrilege. Clearly, the assumption was the Left could finally ram their agenda through congress. Now why all this posturing about an executive order? I'm trying to make sense of it. Is it possible that legislators have already been feeling the heat enough that they've been communicating with the White House?

It's getti'n so a dude needs to be a Kremlinologist.

Several Democrats have spoken up from rural areas opposing the Feinstein bill and some of our current administration's plans, saying they are too radical. If they take the legislative route, they will end up with little to nothing from the original bills.

The Executive Orders can bypass the legislative branch by using administrative rules within the BATFE regarding firearms/ammo and the EPA regarding ammunition.

Many of us saw this coming...those who didn't vote should've voted election day, eh?

Personally I don't think we will get out whole this time. I think he knows that congress will be a long iffy deal. Since he is in a lame duck 2nd termed position what does he have to lose and who can stop him. I think all we can do is buckle up and hope for the best outcome possible. I guarantee you that there will be many more Exec Order hard balls coming down next 4 years. Welcome to the beginning of the transition from democracy to a Czarist rule. Bye bye congress.

Something needs to be done to put him in his place. He needs a reality check/wake up that he is an elected official that works for us, not to rule us

Don't concede a thing. Write your Representatives and Senators both federal and state. Talk calmly to the antis and let them get excited and use derogatory terms ie. Piers Morgan wannabes. Write to your local newspaper's letter to the editor column stating facts that can be verified. These are all things we can and must do. Do not just ignore these times. Take the offensive don't just roll over. Oh yeah JOIN the NRA and or other pro gun organizations.

With the house in Republican hands and a lot of rural Democratic pro gun congressmen, A little "Saber Rattling" about impeachment for violation of the constitution as a response to the threat of an "executive order" could help pour some cold water on this heated debate. They won the election and their heads have swelled up to monster size.

Guess my point is, isn't falling back to Executive Order a concession on the part of this administration? I'm not an attorney...certainly not a constitutional scholar. I don't know what practical limits there are on EOs. But I'm sure of this, the administration would far rather have radical anti-gun legislation coming out of congress. This threat may be a signal of the effectiveness of our efforts to date. Let's keep up the pressure!

And it would still be an illegal action. Can the pres. make an EO repealing the right to a trial by jury, or stationing troops in your home, or asking your representatives for a redress of grievance?

I know the gov would love to do these things but a simple EO would not make the wong-ness or illegality of it , right.

People are running scared and that is what the gov wants. We do have the power. We tell them NO and mean it. A RIGHT is not something given nor taken away by a government. Look at it as your lunch money in grade school. The bully comes to take it from you and you give it to him. It is not his to take, so shame on you. But if you tell him NO and make him believe it, well, good for you!

We have been giving away our 2nd Amendment rights for too long. The line in the sand is now, right here. No!
