...we know that the model 53 .22 cal. S&W was the FIRST hand ejector in any frame size to incorporate a shroud for the extractor in that caliber.
My question now is what year and what model number was the SECOND revolver in .22 cal to incorporate a shrouded extractor rod?

Is this a quiz where you know the answer, or are you actually trying to find out? According to page 138 of the SCSW 4th edition, there was an experimental .22 Hornet made in 1958, serial number X-156. So it would not have had a model name or number. Of course even before that there was one Registered Magnum made in .22LR, and I think there were a handful of Triple Locks.

My guess for the real, production model answer would be the Model 17-6, introduced in 1990. It had the full underlug which of course incorporated an ejector rod shroud. This picture shows from bottom to top, my Model 17-6, 16-4 and 14-5 in .22LR, .32 H&R Mag and .38 Special, respectively.

Seems like you covered the subject quite well.
Any more input anybody?
Thank you again Tom K.

P.S.- I didn't know about the Hornet, nor the TL, nor the RM.
