Made a trip "behind the cheddar curtain" last week.
On the way back, near Rhinelander, I saw a fabulous 1957 Ford
Thunderbird. Key Lime pie color and looked perfect to me.
If I was dreadfully rich I'd have one of those. As it is, I didn't notice it
till I was heading into the station after fueling up the car. It was gone
when I came out so I didn't even get a picture.
Dad had a yellow Ford convertible when I was a sprout. Not a T-bird but
still a cool car. He sold it to a young kid when we left the country in
1955. I often wish he had managed to store it till we got back.
That car made an impression me. We were driving through the West,
toward Washington state when dad had to slam on the brakes. I pitched
forward slamming my head right into the radio. Helped to make me a
Ford man, I guess. (Although I am currently driving a Dodge and a
Pontiac. Go figure!)
