I saw post on an anti-gun group a couple days ago (see screen capture below), and jumped to the conclusion that Facebook was donating money to anti-gun groups. I was critical of Facebook in my initial post.

David Wilson in post #13 below pointed out that Facebook also gave money to pro-gun groups, which I did not know, and thus they did not target anti-gun groups for giving money to.

My apologies for jumping to the conclusion I jumped to, and for criticizing Facebook. Thank you, David, for keeping me honest.

It is well known that Facebook is anti-gun. People, even FFL holding businesses, have been suspended for posting gun pictures if there is any mention of selling or price.
I have been able to squeak by posting gun pictures on my business page by simply stating
"new arrival" or "just in" and no mention of price.

What's sad is they , like many politicians , think/know what is best for us . Never mind that they aren't right , they think they are . Why can't they use that money in a good way , helping homeless vets or something . Wait , that's right , they've never served their country . But ask them and they know what's best for the country .

The unmentioned reality here is that Second Amendment Groups organized as 501(c)3s ALSO got matching Facebook funds on Giving Tuesday. The California Gun Rights Foundation was one of them, and you can go look at their Facebook presence to see how many contributions they reported as the day wore on. You can also enjoy some wickedly funny posts featuring familiar California pols "fundraising" for CGF with mocking message boards, like Gavin Newsom in the attachment.

Facebook's Giving Tuesday charitable program distributed $7 million total to ALL charitable organizations that got their matching requests in before the money ran out. The first $2 million they handed out were in dollar-for-dollar matches to first-comers. The next five million were passed out on the basis of one Facebook dollar contributed for every ten donated dollars.

The only qualifying requirement was that the recipient organization be a recognized 501(c)3.

No, I do not like or support Facebook. But even less do I like gullibility and unresearched misinformation.
