Hi, all,

I'm shooting the S&W Model 910. It's my first semi-auto pistol, and I'm not unhappy with it. I know it is an economy derivative of the 5900 series, and I am aware of some design elements that are superior in the higher grade 3rd gen versions. Suffice to say that I don't yet have any basis to be unhappy with it, and it seems to be quite accurate.

Here's my question -- does anyone know if this gun "likes" any brand of ammo better than another. I am planning to participate soon in a USPSA shoot, and I want to choose the best ammo for my gun. I do not reload yet, so factory loads will have to do. I am also quite willing to consider off brands and remans, if they produce good results -- no doubt most ammo is more accurate than I am. If less expensive choices are available there is no reason I should ignore them.

Would be happy to have any thoughts.

Thanks.

Nice pistol the 910. Mine likes 147 grain best. But most pistols are a law unto themselves. I would shoot some 124 grain as well as 115 and 147 to see which YOUR 910 likes best. :) Enjoy that fine 9! Regards 18DAI

Your 910 and someone else's 910 are not very likely to agree on ammo. The variations are more gun to gun than model to model.

That said, I agree with the above, if you don't mind the ammo being a bit "snappy". Many of my 9mm pistols have done very well with the Win or Federal NATO 124 gr load. None of them were a 910, though. I haven't liked the plain "Winchester White Box" ammo in ANYTHING for many years, but the Rem/UMC yellow boxes and green/white boxes have worked for me in a variety of guns. The Herters Select (brass case) from Cabelas is pretty good too.

a nephew I shoot with has a 910, I have a 5906 - they both like the CCI brass case. mine also does well with the Hungarian MFS - but I've shot all it up and unsure longer available in the USA. it's a little hot.
at any rate keep a fresh recoil spring on hand, maybe a +2 lb over stock from Wolff.
keep us posted of results.
