Factory Pinto finish S&W .44 Target Model of 1950 (Pre-Model 24)

There were 17 Pintos in that shipment. 15 6 1/2" guns and 2 4"
Here are the pintos I owned a few years back and have since sold.

It's a very rare gun. The box would be a rarely seen wide maroon.

I found that guns twin on GB several years ago and the factory letter stated it went to Rec Firearms as well and I think it was part of the same shipment. Mine came with aftermarket ivories but the letter stated it should have had the smooth rosewood grips as yours and a member happened to have a set they would let me buy. It now resides with another member here on the forum. I also had a set of Cokes I stuck on for the picture shown.

Interesting to see what we are willing to pay for a gun. I just bought one for George yesterday off GB. Not sure if I paid too much or if it was a bargain. There are those guns that are simply seen as, "Find another one". I will post some pictures when the 1905 arrives.

I found this closed sale of Smith and Wesson S&W .44 Target Model of 1950 (Pre-Model 24) Serial# S98115 on gunsinternational.com. The Seller, Salt Lake Collectibles (George Dye) told me the sell price was $9,250 and included a “...proper period box...”. Please see attached S&W authentication letter & pictures.

The S&W .44 Target Model of 1950 (Pre-Model 24) Serial# S99781 that I purchased yesterday does not include a box.
