I just bought a new M&P 45, shot 50 rounds of Magtech 200grn LSWC and 30 rounds of Magtech 230 grn FMJRN. They ran perfectly. Tried some reloads Rainier 200grn HP with 5 grns of Titegroup,OAl 1.260 and some 1.235. 30% failed to completely close the slide by about 1/8 inch, the brass was very sooty/burned on one side on all the cases. Empty fired brass measured .890 +- .002. This is the same load I used in My Sig 220 without a hitch. Any suggestions, I hope it isn't a problem with the gun. Thanks for any help.

Could be the flare was not completely removed form your cases when crimping or the OAL is a titch long. I use 1.200 with my 200gr JHPs. I doubt if it is the gun.

Thanks guys I will try your suggestions and adjust my dies. I hope that cures the problem, I really like how this pistol shoots and points, I was very surprised how accurate it is with point shooting.

ran into the same problems before .. glad to help.
failure to go into battery is almost always the crimp.
the act of seating and crimping sometimes start to fight each other before it'll pass in a tight chamber.
I'll add a trick to go along with Bucks OAL advice ... draw a heavy band on the bullet in front of the case mouth with a magic marker. Chamber the round and extract .. if you see tick marks in the ink from rifling contact, your too long
