Favorite bullet weight for .44 magnum

Since most of my shooting isn't for hunting I use a Sierra or Remington 210 JHP.
I've used the Sierra bullet on deer and it worked quite well.
My other favorite bullets are the Hornady 240XTP and a hard 240 cast.

I shoot a lot of 250gr RCBS Keith type bullets.
My two loads with that bullet are , 8.5 gr of Unique for "plinking" and 20.0 gr of 2400 for serious work.
I shoot a 280 gr WFN GC over 21.5 gr of WW 296 when I'm packing a .44 in Alaska.

My three favorite 44 Magnum bullets are the H&G 503 (the one with the wide driving band - I have seen two designs from H&G), the new Lyman 429244, and the H&G 326. These weigh 250, 265, and 275 grains, respectively.

Depending on the powder and the metal used, any of them can be run up to maximum 44 Magnum levels with little leading and very good accuracy.

I shoot more 503s at 900-1000 fps than anything else.

I use 240 gr XTP or 250 gr Keith SWC for most of my shooting and I have some 320 gr 'Bear' loads, but haven't pulled the trigger on them yet. Not many Bears where I live, but I take them to CO with me for the 'just in case' thing. I use 240 gr SJSP out of my Marlin.

I like the 245-250grLSWC for plinking & a 270grLHPGC for hunting. I've pretty much banished jacketed bullets from my 44mags.

Let's see...

Hornady 180gr HP/XTP at 1200 fps for PD
Missouri Bullet 200gr LRNFP for plinking
Action Bullet 240gr LSWC and 290gr LSWC for hunting practice
Leadhead 250gr LSWC Keith and Cast Performance Bullets 255gr WFNPB for hunting
Hornady 240gr HP/XTP, Speer 240 GDSP, or Hornady 300gr HP/XTP for hunting
Missouri Bullet 300gr Silhouette bullets for target/hunting

Come to think of it, I also purchased some 165gr LRNFP bullets for the short barrel .44 Specials that could also be used in the .44 Magnum. I might have to try that someday...

I haven't loaded any .44 Magnum in years, and mostly loaded .44 Special, but when I did, I mostly loaded bullets in the 240gr. range.

I primarily a 240-250 Keith fan with both the .44 Special AND the .44 Magnum:

This is the H&G #503 and as near a Keith bullet as you will get. It shoots extremely well and I have taken several deer with it or the Lyman 429421

I have been known, on occasion, to use the Group Buy 200 gr full W/C with success, also. It shows considerably less recoil for target work.

I have loaded from 180 to 320 gr. bullets for the .44 mag and my absolute favorite slug is the RCBS 250K ...... hands down.
