When someone asked me what is my favorite S&W 22 caliber revolver I said I have two. Here they are, one has fixed sights and the other adjustable sights. Both are over 50 years old. The Model 18-3 is the newer of the two.
The friend I was having the discussion with thought I'd be saying my Model 617 or 63 would be my favorite. And while I like those two Smiths the older blue ones are IMO better looking and more fun to shoot.

Is that a 'Model Marked' Model 45?

Model 45-2?

If those are the correct stocks then, with the diamond, it's probably a no dash Model 45.

Can't be anything but a Model 45.

Enjoy....

Of my Smith & Wesson's the 17-4 followed very closely by my 18-3. One that I love equally as much as my 17-4 is my Dan Wesson model 22 with 6" heavy/vented barrel shroud. Unfortunately, I have no photos of that one. I did have an FFL friend, who once offered me the 5 screw postal model. Marked on the back strap with "PO Dept" for $3000 but condition wasn't there for that kind of money. I declined.

First is an 18-3 with TS, TH and smooth TT, RR & WO and the trigger stop. One hole groups at 10 yards are pretty easy with it.

Second is a pre war I frame .22/32 H.E.

Third is a well finish worn first year production .22/32 Kit Gun model of 1953.

The Model 45 even with its fixed sights is surprisingly accurate. Being somewhat scarce I don't shoot it a lot, perhaps twice a year. That said it is still one of my very favorite 22 revolvers. Thanks guys for the comments and for sharing your favorite S&W .22 caliber revolvers.
