I found this at Academy for $7.99 for 20 55 grain cartridges, and wonder if anyone else has used this ammo? It's brass is not the brightest and is actually discolored, I am not really worried about that so I bought two boxes just to see what happens and if it is accurate and reliable!

I bought 500 rounds of it a while back. My son has shot 200 rounds through his AR without issue. He was mostly messing around, so I can't comment on the accuracy, but I believe the Lake City ammo is pretty good.

I've bought some of those from academy. Went through my m&p withou any problems and pretty accurate at the 25 yard range

Grab more before they run out. It'll hold 2" off the bench in mine. Not as good as my handloads, but good enough for plinking or recruiting a new shooter.

Hard to find decent ammo for $0.40/rd and prices are going up.

That's the ammo I use for 3 gun.
It works fine and hits plates at 200 yds.
Good enough for me.

I bought 3 boxes of this for my new AR, it was on sale for $6.99 per box. It seemed to work just fine with no issues to speak of, good enough for plinking and I can use the brass later for more accurate hand loads. The local Wallyworld has the Federal 100 bulk pack for $34.97.

XM193 is Mil-Spec ammo so it's not polished to a high shine. My experience with it is that it's good for sub-2 MOA accuracy at 100 yards.

It does make for a good source of brass for reloading.

I'll be back tomorrow but only after an IDPA match, I am certain no one else will buy all of them up before I get there!

the discoloration is the annealing process in which the civilian brass also does but LC doesn't polish the brass afterwards, its a quality control check for the military they can tell just by looking its been annealed so dont worry about the discoloration. at the neck. I have never had a problem with LC rounds.

I shoot this, have shot quite a few rounds through my Stagarms. It will keep shots in a quarter size bull at 100 yards if I do my part, and have never had a malfunction. I usually buy it bulk from Natchez.

I bought 1k rounds of it. Have shot up 500, loved it. Saving the last half case box for I dont know why but havent opened it yet. I have about 800 rounds of my reloads also.

I've even bought thousands of rounds to stockpile for self defense. It's right up there with Winchester Q3131 to me.

Though the bulk of my ammo is IMI 193.
All of which are more or less 2MOA accurate.

I'd stack it deep while you can still find it.

Thanks to all for the response to my query and now being primarily a pistol shooter in rifle terms what is an MOA?

I am still new to such acronyms that are used with rifles but this one I do not have a clue!

MOA = Minute of Angle = approx. 1" @ 100 yards, 2" @ 200 yards, 3" @ 300 yards, ...

All I shoot is Federal. XM193 is stocked up and I also shoot Federal .223 or American Eagle (also Federal) .223 when I can find it at Walmart.

I recently saw (through the evil forum) that Sportsman Guide (of all places) had PCM X-TAC XM193 55grn FMJ (brass cases with boxers primers) for $323 a 1000 round case, delivered, for members.
So after the $29 membership fee the total order was $1615 for 5 cases delivered (5000 rounds) and they sent two $10 dollars gift cert's. :)
I was ordering the PCM XM193 from Ammoman.com for something like $365 a 1000 rnd case delivered, but they consistently ran out of stock, and it seemed like I could only get like 2 cases at a time.

Anyway ...... that puts them as just over $.32 per round.
Since I don't want to reload 5.56 for plinking/3G, and and I sell the once fired brass to get closer to reloading price, and/or pay for my .223 brass and supplies to reload for my long range gun ......... I'm a happy camper. :)

Wow and I just had to justify spending $84 for 2100 rounds of Federal Champion 22lr.....I cannot for the life of me think of what would happen if I walked in and said "Baby I just spent $1600 on ammo for the AR's". LOL I would wake up finding my nads had been rolled in cornmeal, deep fat fried and served to me well done!!! LMAO
