Was at one of my local Wally's the other day shopping for the usual stuff and went looking for some .32 ACP for a new semi-auto I just got.
This one keeps what little ammo they have in a locked glass-doored case behind the counter (which puts it just far enough away from where you can stand that you can't really read what's on the labels.)
Had to wander away from the counter three times to ask if ANYBODY was supposed to be actually WORKING in sporting goods AT ALL!
At least three other guys just gave up waiting and left. After almost twenty minutes, this guy comes by pushing a cart full of product and asks if I needed any help!!
I ask if there's any .32 ACP in the case, he says yes, I ask for a box, he unlocks the case and hands it to me.
I have to pay for it right there-separately from all the other stuff I have in the cart.
He starts to ring it up, then asks for my driver's license. I asked why, he said they have to verify I'm over 21?
I'm flattered! I just turned 63, and have a receding hairline with graying temples and a white/gray goatee and mustache!!
He says they card everyone now because they recently got fined for not carding a young woman a few weeks ago (she was over 21, but they didn't ASK for proof which is apparently the most important part - the ASKING!)
Anyway, they also had the picture below taped up in front of the register. As if the twenty-minute wait for a cashier wasn't discouraging enough
