Federal Firearms act of 1938

Does anybody here know where I could find the full text of this 1938 act?
I am interested in learning the exact record-keeping rules in place, for FFLs and importers of firearms, prior to 1968.

Geoff if you will look on the web for a case called, U.S. vs Miller you will get a ton of info on how it got started over an old Bank Robber, a sawed off shot gun, and the federal court in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

The National Firearms Act of 1934-5 regulated what we now call Class lll weapons, required their registration and the one-time tax payment.

The 1938 Federal Firearms Act regulated the sale and importation of guns, prevented certain people from buying them, and required that sales records be kept. This is the text I am looking for.

I would recommend contacting the Library of Congress in D.C., and request copies of the Federal Register which contain the act and/or notifications regarding it.

The Federal Firearms Act was under Title 15, (Commerce and Trade) ,Chapter 18. USCode.

If you can find someplace that still lists a full copy of it,,most will simply show that it was repealed.

A law library should have it, access to it or be able to direct you to the full text..
