Feedback Wanted on this Tutorial Video - Inserting Pix in Post

Based on some feedback I received on my tutorial for adding pictures to a new thread, I created this tutorial for inserting pictures into a post. There are two techniques presented:

1. Inserting pictures that are hosted on a site like Photobucket, Flickr, Imgur and from an album on this site. (To get an album, donate to the site or join the S&W Collectors Association.)
2. Inserting pictures into a post that you have already uploaded as attachments to your draft post. (See my first tutorial if you do not know how to upload pictures as attachments.)

In my albums, I RIGHT click once on the BB code, and it highlights it and presents the menu. I use FF, so maybe it is a browser thing.

You might want to mention that pics which are too large MIGHT NOT upload. Size limits are listed for each type of pic in the attachment window that pops up. I have found that the software will usually resize pics that are above the limit unless they are huge, so it is worth trying before one bothers to resize them.

For a while now I had been seeing attached pics that were also posted in the text. Just a couple of weeks ago, I goofed around long enough to figure out how to do it. However, I was actually clicking the attachment link to open the pic in another tab, and then copying the URL. Duhhhhhhhhhhhh- you just taught me to READ the menu and use "Copy link location and save several clicks. THANKS!

Lee, I'm glad to be of assistance in improving your enjoyment of the forum software.


There are a number of ways to do things like select text in a browser. The 3 clicks is sort of a convention so I stuck with that. I have found that often just clicking the URL will highlight it but it is not consistent. So, I'm just trying to get new folks more acquainted with posting pictures. They can venture out from there.


I agree that the number 1 issue with posting pictures is trying to upload a picture that is too large for the forum software to resize. I should have addressed that and will take a look at what I might do to edit that into the video.

There are several ways to get a pic in a post. You've given the two easiest ways.

The method you showed in this video can also be used for any picture on the internet. Just right click on the picture, select copy link location and then past it into the picture dialog box. Conversely, they can insert it by pasting it between the

tags.
