Feeding our S&W Revolvers

I have access to a single stage press, just don't have much free time.

When you get a little more free time, a single stage press will be just fine. That's all I used for years, I still load in batches on the turret anyway.

I got a hot deal on some name brand 158gr. LSWC bullets, and Hornady 158gr LRN. bullets at a flea mkt. I used the reload calculator, and they worked out to $3.48 a box for 50, .38's. Cheaper than .22's. Bob

Yeah, I placed a bunch of orders using that Cabela's deal on 9mm & some .45 as well.

I load all my own centerfire, except for Russian surplus 54r. I don't load 38, but supposing I were to start now here's my cost to assemble mouse fart range loads. I'll include sales tax and shipping, and round some fractions up. That accounts for the burger, coffee, and gas costs driving to and from the gun stores.
125 gr cast from Dardas 7¢ (2000 bullets to reduce shipping cost)
Powder 2¢
Primer 4¢
So a box of 50 is 6.50, pretty cheap. OTOH, 9mm federal is $10.60 OTD at the local Wally, so somebody whose time has monetary value might decide commercial is cheaper.

I really miss handloading. Wife and I are in-between moves and my entire gunroom/loading setup has been in storage for a few years.
Hopefully in the new year we can start building and once complete, I'll be able to start back. Been an enjoyable pursuit since the 1970's, and has felt strange to rely on factory ammo the last few years.
