I'd like to buy a better flashlight than I currently have and am looking at the Fenix E21. I like it because: it uses AA batteries, is an LED, and reasonably priced. I'd like to get American made but it seems like to you have to go over $100 to start.
Any opinions about it or others that are less than $50.00, and use AA batteries?

Thanks,

Jeff

I have had a FenixLD20 for about three years and I keep it by my bed and also "don't leave home without it". It is a great light and a good value.

I use the regular lithium AA batteries and they last a long time.

Highly recommend their products.

I have carried a 180 Lumen P2D in my pocket since 2008. This one used the CR123 battery and they last over a year. I use the 10 lumen setting most of the time, but the high power setting is useful when the dogs are out at night.

My last Fenix was the LD41. This one uses 4 AA's and puts out 520 Lumens.

Here is a great forum for evaluating flashlights, and here is a link about the E21.

I have a Fenix, L2D I believe, and it is a fantastic light for the size. I used to use it for cycling at night and I sure could see and be seen. Camofire .com had one yesterday for $39, I believe.

I'm in love with them. My first was the PD30 and my next was a PD32, 257 lumens and 315 lumens respectively. I would like to have 1 or maybe 2 more and I would be happy for awhile. These use the 123A batteries which are a little expensive but last for quite a while and have a good shelf live I understand.
Keep an eye out on OpticsPlanet, they have them on sale 3 or 4 times a year for $50 to $55.
I have 7 or 8 Mag Lites I have used over the years. They were the technology at the time. but not any more. I would like to try one of those AA battery ones. I almost live on AA batteries.

I have a Fenix E21 and it's the best light I have ever owned and I use it more. I like the fact it uses AA batteries. As for other lights I have no experience with them but I am sure there are better ones that cost more money. Don

I was frustrated for years by the pitiful light put out by the old standard D-cell flashlights with incandescent bulbs. Finally I took the plunge and bought an LD20, and am more than satisfied.

I've got an E21. While it's a good light, after about a year mine will no longer switch from low to high power, and is stuck on low.

It's still fairly bright but I'd like to have the high power option.

I do like the AA batteries. I've got a Surefire that eats 123 batts like I go thru Doritos.

I own both the fenix E21 and a 3 terralux lightstar 220's. I prefer the terralux and gave the fenix to my son. To me it is more durable. Similar price, 2 AA, size, output, etc. to the fenix. I got them on Amazon. Either will suit you well.
