Scooby Doo, and then Star Wars. My Mom still has the metal Star Wars lunch box and the Scooby Doo thermos.

Mine had a cool ecological theme (bio-degradable paper sack)... reused til it almost fell apart.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Damn, Raider beat me to it. Mine was a paper bag with 2 sandwiches, one Spam & the other Peanut Butter & Jelly. Had to make the bag last 5 days because of the war effort. Spam, PB&J wern't rationed. Butter was but not oleo.

Starsky & Hutch for me! Mom would pack the pb&j then put the apple in there and would smash the sandwich and it would be a real mess by lunchtime, and we can't forget the can of soda wrapped in aluminum foil, what did that do?

Hopalong Cassidy, but it didn't fit well tied in a Levi jacket on my saddle so Mom went back to the old one with the thermos in the lid.

You want to talk about smashed sandwiches,,, Try lunch after bouncing around on a 4 mile horseback ride to school.

That's what I carried too, but on my bike. I might have looked like a locomotive engineer but the darn thing carried more food than I could eat in one sitting and the thermos kept everything and anything at the proper temp!

I'm there with Raider and Dick. I remember the paper bags. I always wanted one of the square ones, like SIGP220 showed. After listening to my whining, one day I think my Mom's brother took pity on me and I got his plain black model rounded at the top for the thermos. Don't recall much but peanutbutter, celery, raisins and milk being in there - sometimes a small bag of chips or Fritos, when there was extra money for such luxuries!

The great horror in those years was being herded into the gymnasium mid-afternoon and forced to drink a small Dixie cup of juice (syrup) left over from the fruit served to the kids who could afford to buy lunch. I always thought this honor should have been reserved exclusively for the paying customers. Yuuucck!

I think I had several. I remember Roy Rogers, Davey Crockett, the usual brown bag with sandwiches wrapped in wax paper, and my favorite lunch box was the type with the thermos on top.

My syrup bucket didn't have anything on it, just bright and shiny!
