I have had an 03 FFL for 20+ years. I recently got an e-mail invitation that was sent to all FFL holders in Western NY. The source was ATF.gov and the title was "ATFFFLAlert".

Supposedly, it was for an FFL seminar in a few months. It said to download the link to view the invitation and RSVP to reserve a seat. However, the download was an excel file listing all the FFL holders, with their FFL numbers, addresses, etc. My name was there, plus other friends that I know have 03's. No link to RSVP.

Anyone else get one of these? Anybody have more info?

I would be looking real hard at who sent you that email.

Would make me wonder if someone isn't phishing to gain access to your computer.

ATF goes by BATF? Might actually be BATFE? Plus the alert part doesn't strike me as professional.

Did the email say where this was to be held? If so, contact the place to determine it is for real. Or go right to the source:
BATF Office Rochester, NY
Located in: Five Star Bank
Address: 100 Chestnut St # 1100, Rochester, NY 14604
Phone: (585) 987-2100
The FBI/NICS is conducting a series of meetings around the country for FFLs but that email was from [email protected] plus none are in New York state.

The e-mail address was atf.com. I realize that the new name is BATFE, but in fact their e-mail address really is atf.com.

I replied to them but did not get an answer. It did not come back as undelivered so I guess it was a real address.

I DID call the Rochester office, but they do not answer calls, requiring a message be sent. They never replied to my message.

If it was in fact pfishing or a scam, it was a really good job because in fact they already had a lot of info that I would assume was confidential and only known by the "real" BATFE.

Another mystery.

I too, have had a 03’ for a very long time. No invite :D but did get a phone call and email advising of a break in at a LGS, and to secure everything.
I had heard about that before the ATF contact, the store/range is some 8 miles away.

Did it look like this, found in my spam folder.

A bit far to go for a meeting unless they put me in a Ritz Carlton. :D

I don’t have a NY FFL, so looks scamish to me.

No survey, no personal info linked.

I got same email. But I also got a voicemail from a call I did not answer. I get these from time to time but never paid much attention to them. It came from atf.gov

I got the same ATf email.
Complete with the attachment which was supposed to be for reserving a place at the FFL seminar.

The attachment is a list of FFL holders in the Western NY BATF Region covered by the Buffalo Office/ATF
NY Countys/ Erie, Niagra, Orleans, Monroe, Livingston,Wayne, Genesee, Seneca, Ontario.
861 total

Someone hit the wrong Select key perhaps.

The source email address was the same, but I did not get the invitation you posted.

FOLLOW-UP

Finally after almost a week the ATF returned my call. The message was for 01FFLs only. There is to be a meeting regarding updates on record keeping, etc.

Apparently, since I only have an 03 the appropriate attachment was missing.
