My not so young eyes really like fiber optic sights.
Have them on all my regular competition guns.

My 1911 would see a lot more action if it had one, too:

Front is .180 tall" x .140" wide with a weird dovetail about .240".

Want to keep these dimensions, or something close.

Have checked Novak, Dawson and anyone else Google could cough up to no avail.

Have set this gun up to my exact desires, but the sight is the missing link.

Grateful for any suggestions/recommendations on offer.

thanks.

Call Dawson and discuss it with them. They make their own sights and can accommodate odd sizes. The FO does not extend full width of the front sight on any of them. I have FO and the FO dot is for quick sight while you still use the full metal front for precise shooting. If you send them the slide (or gun) they will install and verify zero.

If you prefer to alter the gun instead of getting glasses that will correct your vision problem, Smith & Wesson should be able to help you. They offer(ed) a "glow worm" sight for some of their 1911s like this one.

I recently called them for a standard 1911 front sight for that gun and think I recall the person with whom I spoke saying they had those FO sights in stock but I had to wait for a back-order to clear to receive the Patridge sight I wanted.

Glasses?
I have custom made monovision shooting glasses.
Not much more can be done in that area.

Oh but there is more than can be done. Dr. Harold Morgan of Morgan Sports Optical in Olean, New York made glasses for via email with just my distance Rx and the range at which I usually shoot handguns that allow me to see both my sights and my target with clarity. I'm 68 and couldn't see my sights unless I used reading glasses but then my target's black bull looked like a blurry football on end. No more.

Call Dr. Morgan at 800-594-0175.

I must post this once a week or more. Lots of us olde pharts on here, I guess.
