Field & Stream Ammo/Dick's Sporting Goods

Grand Opening: Dick's Sporting Goods Store in my area. They have Field & Stream 9mm brass 115 gr. FMJ for $6.67 a 50 rd. box. (with coupon for $10. off on $25. purchase). Anyone have any info on this ammo? I believe it carries an H&S head stamp and is made in Bosnia/Herzegovina.

No experience but that part of the world certainly suffered enough wars to have developed good munitions capabilities.

May be Serbian. A lot of Prvi Partisan and similar ammo comes from there. And some cheap ammo is Russian.

When the Dick's/F&S opened here this past April none of the things I wanted to buy with the coupon were allowed.

When I spoke to the manager about it he gave me a credit card type store card for 10% off anything in the store except firearms.I never used the 10% off coupon I got in the mail.

I had them price match Cabelas Federal Primer price at the register then handed the clerk the 10% off card the manager gave me.

After the Grand Opening period the prices were as high or higher than Gander Mountain and Bass Pro at the time.

I've just gone through 250 rounds of the Field & Stream 9mm. No problems, would buy again.

Yes. you are correct! Coupon not valid on firearms or ammo. I just found that out! Dick's won't see me in their store any time soon!
As for the F&S ammo, I suspect it is just low priced junk plinking grade. (Sour Grapes!!!...LOL)

Dick's has a history of being anti-gun. They pulled all AR's and similar rifles off their shelves immediately after Sandy Hook and cancelled orders for any that had not been delivered. At one time time, and they may still do so, they did a NICS check on purchasers in Michigan, even though there is no requirement to run a check on CFL holders in the state. I don't do business with places that waste my time with ignorant corporate requirements.

We got one of those Field & Stream/Dick's combined stores by me recently. I checked them out only to be reminded how expensive Field & Stream is and Dick's isn't much better now that they are combined. I used to shop a lot at Dick's before the last ammo crunch but probably won't be back.

Don't know about the ammo but was at Dicks last week looking at rimfire scopes. The very knowledgeable young man at gun department said the Field and Stream scopes were made by Tasco.

The only things I usually buy at Dicks are golf balls and other misc golf stuff and name brand ammo when on sale.

-Denel Pretoria Metal Pressings. Largest South American small arms ammo manufacturer.

-Igman. Bosnia and Herzegovina.

-ZVS. Slovakia

-RAUG. German. Owns RWS (Hungarian), Geco (Swiss), Rottweil

-Silver Bullet Gun Works. US?

-US Ordnance. US

I've shot Igman, RAUG, and ZVS. All worked fine as range ammo.

We live rural in the middle of a bunch of LGS and a few big boxes, most any is a 25 mile drive with many much farther.

My wife has picked up some good deals on ammo at Dicks/F&S. She is on their mailing list and gets a lot of coupons and she is quite happy with them for the most part. They are about 40 miles but she goes there on a general shopping trip to the city and checks them out.

I picked up some good priced .38 and 9MM ammo and talking to the help they actually have a couple that seem to realy know something about the guns/products they sell. Key word here is COUPLE, I have found many more that do not have a clue!
